On That Note: Say Say Say

BTW, I have missed all of you during my long hiatus. Lost my previous job and had a rough holiday season but I'm working a new contract position and feeling a lot better. Now I gotta go search my library and see if I can find any good submissions. These are things I think I notice every time I...

It's interesting to think about how the pronunciation affects the style of the performance as well. If someone sang most of the songs in this thread with the standard pronunciation it would sound nerdy as hell. Brenton Wood especially just has that style and swagger in his delivery that makes...

Aw, that's cheating. Love that song, and that album is actually quite good, even though they are considered a One Hit Wonder.

Damn, sad I missed it. I would have taken at least my oldest kid. He would have liked it. Story for me and that song. I remember LOVING it when it came out in 96, but then I forgot about it, for years. 2005 maybe I heard it again and immediately had to go download the whole album. Loved it.

You sly dog you. If you haven't listened to other Superdrag songs, I would highly recommend them.

What music are you listening to right now?

LOVE The War On Drugs! It's such a smooth sound. I get the Dylan-esque quality. For some reason it always makes me think of "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" or "Division Bell" era David Gilmour lyrics with Pink Floyd. I guess that's a more ethereal Pink Floyd period. Even though their guitars are...

On another episode of **** Most People Have Never Heard Of, with me, your host, CyHipHopp... Tori Amos - Boys for Pele I'm sure some people have heard of Tori Amos in general. She had a few singles that were more widely played. This was her third album after she made a name for herself with...

Speaking of SKA. Fishbone is one of the all time great ska bands. They've been doing it since 1986. So by 1996 they were experimenting more and adding a lot more hard rock to their albums, and some soul and R&B as well. Their 1996 album is not my favorite Fishbone albums, but it's still quite...

It wouldn't be a 90s thread without some good ole fashioned SKA BABY! I listened to ska before Reel Big Fish blew up (Fishbone, Madness...), but they were one of the huge forces in the ska uprising of the 90s. Basically every teenage trombone player in the 90s, like I was, loved Reel Big Fish...

I also didn't find this one right away. Only after Aquemini and Stankonia blew up and I went back and found their older albums as well. ATLiens, (the boys are from the Atlanta ATL area), is their second studio album and when they started building momentum toward their break out albums and...

As usual you guys have posted a ton of awesome songs from awesome albums. I'm going to share one that only a few of you might be aware of in its entirety. Superdrag - Regretfully Yours This album is a masterpiece. One that I often listen to from track 1 to track 13. Unfortunately I didn't...
