Schwabs other money market funds are geared for those in high tax brackets, such as 32% or more. If you’re one of those, God bless :)

I would recommend that the following allocation: 60% Large Cap; 30% Mid/Small Cap; 10% International I would go 100 percent in equities/stocks until your are at least 10 years from retirement. At that point, you could back off and start investing some in fixed income if you want, but always...

Yes, you need to at least look into this option. A relative of mine retired before 65, and his company allowed him to keep his health insurance in retirement. However, the cost was around $1,000 per month. He looked into an ACA plan and discovered that he could get a Silver plan for around...

I keep my cash in the Schwab Value Advantaged Money Market Fund (SWVXX). The 7-day yield is 4.69%.

A couple of you have questioned the ability to retire before 65 without employer health coverage or an HSA to cover health insurance premiums. I did not have an HSA, but my employer allowed me to bring my health insurance into retirement. However, even if your employer doesn’t provide health...

Would love to compare thoughts, ideas, notes, etc. Not sure about doing a seminar or other events as caring for my parents and fulfilling my bucket list keeps me pretty occupied. My wife says I am busier now than when I was working. That’s probably a little exaggerated. However, I have not...

I agree with this concept. Studies have shown that indexing wins 90 percent of the time. You can try to beat the market by picking individual stocks or actively managed funds. However, there is only a 10 percent chance that you will succeed.

I get your point of not putting all your 401K contributions in a Roth. Having said that, I would put at least half in a Roth. Roth’s adds tax diversification. Plus, $700,000 in the Roth 401K is equivalent to about $1,000,000 in a traditional 401K. The Roth 401K was not available until I was...

I am still 100 percent invested in stocks. However, I recognize that this strategy is not for everyone. Plus, I have a small pension that covers some living expenses, and happen to have an ironclad stomach when it comes to market fluctuations. If you can’t stomach or afford seeing you...

    Retirement Targets

I retired at 18 months ago at 56 years old. My savings were approximately 16 times my income when I retired. Using the 4 percent rule, my savings were sufficient to replace 75 percent of my pre-retirement income, which is all you need. That’s because you won’t be paying FICA tax or making...

    Iowa State Transfer/Recruiting Class 2023

If Creighton wants Traudt, they got him. They have plenty of $$ to make it happen.

    Gonzaga looks like ISU tonight

Agree. Unfortunately, lot of other teams cheated as well. Some were just willing to go further than others and were better at concealing their actions. I am not a fan of the new NIL environment, but I do think it has taken away some of the inherent advantages from the big name programs.

It won’t happen, but how would you feel if Creighton wins the national championship?

I am indifferent. No hate toward McD. However, I am still trying to figure out how he has done so well at Creighton, but couldn’t get the job done at ISU. Personally, I think that Creighton provided him more resources than he received in Ames, although I am sure some would disagree. Plus...

***Iowa State vs #15 Texas (Sun., 1:00)***

So proud of this team! They could have folded after Stephanie got hurt. Instead, they buckled down and persevered. Go Cyclones.

    Does the B12 Tournament matter?

I got K-State as a four and ISU as a five. Dropped the Cats a line after getting beat by TCU and moved ISU up one after beating Baylor.

*** Official IOWA STATE vs #3 Kansas Game(Day) Thread ***

I would have liked to see the final score be single digits as well. Those who watched the game know it was much closer than the final score would suggest. However, at the end of the day, I really doubt that losing to the likely number one overall seed by 13 points hurts ISU regarding it’s seed.

*** Official IOWA STATE vs #3 Kansas Game(Day) Thread ***

ISU played two of its best games of the season this week. Tonight was not one of its worst games, but not one of its best either. They got KU into a rock fight and the Jayhawks responded. I give Kansas credit. I am extremely pleased how the team responded after the turmoil from Grill...

    Does the B12 Tournament matter?

My team gets whooped in quarters by a lower seed = doesn’t matter. My team wins in the quarters and advances to the semis = matters.

    Hason Ward

One of the best ones we have had all year. Starting to feel pretty good about next year’s front court, regardless of whether they get a center in the portal.

    In 3 games vs Baylor

Baylor has had no answer for ISU’s front court in any of the three games. The Cyclones have effectively out-Baylored, Baylor.
