Would you support bringing Dan Gable back to ISU?

I hope JP will step back, swallow his pride, and do whatever it takes to restore wrestling where it should be.

Would you support bringing Dan Gable back to ISU?

LOL, love the star wars reference. Although Darth Vader turned out to be good in the end (ala finishing out at ISU).

    Pollard untouchable?

questions that need to be answered: is he just a victim of circumstances? is he part of the problem? is cyclone athletics (other that volleyball and WBB) become damaged, and confidence from the public lost? does action need to be taken to restore public confidence? some may be...

Would you support bringing Dan Gable back to ISU?

I agree. I big hire needs to be done in a timely manner to maintain stability and confidence in current and future recruits. The scenario of Gable ever coaching at ISU was never in my mind, mostly because I never thought there would be an opening this soon, and in this manner. I hope the...

Would you support bringing Dan Gable back to ISU?

Those that say they don't want to have any hawkeye ties are being immature and short sighted. ISU last NC in 1987 included a former Hawkeye great, Ed Banach. That seemed to work out just fine. I say oust Pollard and bring in Gable as the AD and Wrestling coach. Peace

    Go Get Chris Bono....

I really don't have a problem if a former Hawkeye wants to become head coach and raise the bar. We did well when Ed Banach joined the staff not long before winning the NC in 1987.

    Go Get Chris Bono....

Well said! There will be a host of top notch coaches out there wanting to be here to win championships.

    don't fear losing, just wrestle

found Cael's blog interesting if a loss during a match occurs, i'd rather see it with a smart, aggressive style than a cautious, tenative style. IMO, with the aggressive style there would be less overall losses (more success and bonus points) and less pressure on the kid, compared to just...

    wrestle above your seed

Well, fortunately BD is not in the drivers seat anymore. Cael will need to find out if he can get these current and future wrestlers to run through a brick wall for him. Thanks for the buzz-kill of my ISU domination rant :jimlad:

    wrestle above your seed

Love the post and the encouraging email from the coach. Historically ISU has tremendous tradition that has also spawned other great wrestling traditions (Iowa fans, your welcome). I believe we are at the door of a new era in wrestling domination. ISU just needs to believe it so, open the...

    wrestle above your seed

ISU needs to get into the mentality of getting the timely upset when it counts. Throughout this year nu, mu, and cornell have been getting it done and producing more out their team than may have been expected. Cael needs to determine individually what will fully motivate each wrestler to get...

    Winning can also be contagious

I'm looking forward to today's dual with nebby. Curious to see if they can make a statement and continue to gain some needed momentum heading into the Big 12's and NCAA's.

    losing is contagious

(understand this post is made out of frustration) I know winning the NCAA's is the ultimate goal, but lets keep winning along the way. I keep hearing 'its ok they will get it turned around', but still I see us not dominating the opponents with the talent available. Certainly spotting 6 points...

    ISU vs. UT Chattanooga

I hope he will be ready for Missouri, as well as next week. It's hard to say how being out of action will affect his conditioning and aggressiveness.

    wrestling attendance

Sounds like a challenge has been set forth for cyclone nation alone to break the record, as hawk fans apparently won't be showing up for next years dual.

    wrestling attendance

we know that match will have tremendous hype, and if it was possible to jam 16000 into Hilton, Hilton might as well have the attendance record.

    wrestling attendance

just a thought for iowa state/iowa next year. Hilton capacity 15,100 (some sites say 14,000 but seems low) Carver Hawkeye 15,500 I know that the fire marshall allowed for an additional 500 people into this years match at Carver, is it even possible to allow an additional 900 or 950 into Hilton?
