Here comes the doomsday thread, sorry

There are only 4 conferences so that would be 12 at large. If you think for a second more then 1 G5 team is ever getting in then we’re just in two different places. I don’t need to see 40 point blow outs in half the games and very few people want to watch that.

Would depend on the matchup and structure. Michigan obliterating SMU, Iowa, or NCST isn’t going to be a huge draw for the same reason it isn’t a huge draw during the regular season. Also at that size it means that around 12 teams would get in every year no matter what. That makes for a super...

The regular season at that point would mean nothing then and ratings would take a serious hit over time. Also when you expand the field that much it just makes making the playoff mean significantly less.

Which I hate that many playoff teams, just waters down the regular season. I always thought 8 was the right number.

Yeah that is where I always assumed things were heading.

    ***2023-24 College Football Thread***

I just honestly don’t get it, like NIL or transfers gets all this blame and from a fans perspective hasn’t changed anything. Same teams are doing/competing the same way they were before. If anything it’s starting to add parity as teams can’t stockpile talent. I mean ISU was led by transfers...

    ***2023-24 College Football Thread***

Dude check any thread talking about cfb and you have plenty of people saying they won’t watch anymore due to NIL or transfer or that that cfb is down. Legit just look on this page about 8 posts before this one and you have people saying college athletics is already gone.

Which is why the big ten and SEC formed this group since the NCAA can’t manage things. The top schools are starting to feel the effects of this to a huge degree which is going to be the real push for change.

Nah this board thinks NIL and the transfer are somehow the end which has always been wrong. It’s just moving under the table stuff to the front. Making students employees would actually kill college sports.

There are still rules it’s just the NCAA has zero power to enforce them.

Here comes the doomsday thread, sorry

I agree with all of this except for the idea that the top 30 programs don’t care about the current set up becuase thats the onus of this committee. The top schools are being unable to stock talent with the portal and many have had top recruits poaches by other schools willing to drop a larger...

Very closely, again nothing even remotely close to that is in process or has a prayer of happening

Here comes the doomsday thread, sorry

Sports aren’t being spun off from the university, that’s just a horrific take with zero discussion being had around it. If students are made employees almost all Olympic sports go under unless they have outside funding. Most programs will shut down football. It’s just not survivable

Here comes the doomsday thread, sorry

Good luck getting any movement on that when it’s a direct attack on women’s sports and Olympic sports. That’s not even close to happening or being based in reality

Hahaha no they can’t, they are still institutions getting federal funds, they can’t get around title 9

Here comes the doomsday thread, sorry

You still can’t escape title 9 or the medical costs that way, that’s why that was never happening in the first place.

Here comes the doomsday thread, sorry

If you go employee status say good bye to 90% or more of all college sports. People can complain all they want about NIL and transfers which really has changed very little but employee status will destroy college sports

Help! I'm Fat - *** Official Exercise and Weight Thread ***

I totally get the access issue, however the affordability one make zero sense to me. I’m not a Medicaid/medicare expert but it covers PCP and ER visits from my limited experience. If they can afford the quack that has a lower chance of being reimbursed they can get access to people with actual...

That’s the main point of this group, to reign in and put some actual enforceable rules in place for NIL and transfers.

Those are all fair points, especially with the travel. Even Washington and Oregon didn’t get the money bump though when they joined the big ten so will be interesting to see how that plays out.
