I do understand your point, if he was 20-8 coming off a final four run, he would in no way shape or form have to go regardless if not a single person was in the arena. You can’t name a single coach that has been let go that way, that’s why winning trumps everything

To be fair if it was the eras tour it means she has money lol

Sure the AD’s job is to increase/maintain attendance, but they aren’t firing a winning coach if that drops and again you can’t show me a coach where that has happened to. Also he said “records don’t matter” which even if you don’t agree with me you have to admit is a wild take

The post from homer that started all this said “records don’t matter” nothing to do with part like you mentioned. If a team is winning everything else is a non issue. Howland is no different, if his last 5 season he won more in the tourney he wouldn’t have been let go.

The actual reason was in his last 5 seasons he only made the tournament 3 times and never made it out of the first weekend of the tournament. Again he was fired for losing, his style of basketball didn’t change from the first half of his career when he made deep tourney runs. It only became a...

He’s not the head coach? He failed at his position, same reason why the 49ers fired their DC today or why any coordinator gets fired. Notice his dad is fully secure in his job because of the win total despite scandals and their offense becoming a national laughing stock

And again, no coach has been fired because of attendance and viewership. They are fired for losing records. This the record is what matters at the end of the day. If a coach is winning at or above school expectations they aren’t getting fired nor does the AD care. Also wasn’t crying when...

@alarson you want to explain the logic behind winning not being the most important thing or just dumb and disagree with posts for no reason?

Umm winning does bring in money, most people don’t show up for a team that’s regularly losing. I’ve never heard of a coach being fired for winning at or above school expectations because attendance was low, that simply just doesn’t happen. I agree with you on a lot but I think you’re way off...

Wow this is extremely wrong on just multiple levels. The win loss record is the only thing that matters because that’s what drives money. The SEC has fired many coaches without seeing ticket sales drop or donations drop soley due to the record.

You were the one that brought up Wisconsin as a comparison to justify the tourney births and not firing a coach that only made the tourney and nothing more. I was saying that Wisconsin has made runs and won the conference title (similar to Purdue who you referenced) and that’s why it’s not a...

During that same time Wisconsin also went to the final 4 and made it to the championship in different seasons. They also won the big ten championship 3 times, that’s hanging banners and putting trophies in the case. That’s making noise like I said.

Rutgers is Rutgers. Juwan missed a tournament and is on the hot seat. Only reason he hasn’t been fired yet is because he went to the elite 8 and sweet 16 the first two years. That’s kinda my point making the tournament is the bare min to not getting fired, not necessarily success. You’ve gotta...

I don’t want to pile on but just making the tourney is a pretty low bar for success. Iowa plays in a conference that is always going to get the benefit of the doubt so making a tournament regularly shouldn’t be a huge bar to clear. Only making it out of the first weekend once in the past 20...

That is really underselling what OSU did during the Thad Matta years. From 2005 to 2015 they went to the tournament 9/10 years, made it to two final fours and a championship game as well as 2 sweet 16’s and an elite 8. I hate OSU but to say they got middle tier results during that time is just...

It won’t happen mid season, he might get read the Harbaugh act in the summer and given one more year but most alums want him gone.

Will Bowls be Dead in 2024?

The bowls aren’t full of backups right now, the people sitting out are the ones going to the NFL. With an expanded playoff you will see even fewer opt outs. You can’t offer enough money to every player to offset the NFL money lost if they get hurt.

    Bracketology 2024

Yeah we’re kinda stuck with him which is a shame because I don’t want to go the Syracuse route and ride a legendary coach into obscurity. This year the majority of alums were banking on a final four or potential championship run, we brought back the entire team from last years run and augmented...
