    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I'm not sure where to place BC or Syracuse. I could go either way, for a lot of the same reasons you list. It goes back to what everyone's end goal is. If everyone goes to 20, I'd have to think Louisville, BC and Syracuse are in the danger zone.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

My understanding is that an odd numbers of members works for an 8 game conference schedule, but not a 9 game schedule. Dropping the 9th conference game impacts the media deal (less $$ for everyone), so it's undesirable. Anyone better at math back me up on that?

I get what you mean, but food photography easy. Getting a photo of the food that doesn't look like **** takes more skill than you'd think! It's not a big lift for a chain, but a lot harder for one-offs.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

That looks a lot like my breakdown. There's 5 ACC schools that it would very surprising if they don't get an invite from either the SEC, B10 or both. Duke might get a look at from whichever conference UNC goes to. BC and GTech make sense if the B10 Network is still printing cash with their...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

What's worse for the SEC, having 3 schools in Florida or letting the B10 get a foothold there? I'd think Miami or FSU would be very high on the B10's priority list. Assuming 20 is their goal number (I have doubts about making it to 24 for either the B10 or SEC), I have got to think the B10's...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I'm sure the B12 has been working the phones and behind the scenes letting PAC schools know, we're talking to 3-5 PAC schools along with UConn and our media partners have green lit expanding to 14/16/18.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

As if the PAC needed to find another way to sabotage themselves, holding out on presenting the offers they do have to members may have ****** their 2024 and put the conference in jeopardy of entirely collapsing. Presenting in March, April or May could have triggered an exodus then, but it...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Right, but who has both enough money and a financial interest in putting that money towards a buyout?

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

But without a way to break the GOR, it's just noise. It's meaningless and inconsequential, other than as a message from the school to their fans & donors that they're trying their best. When/if one or more schools file a lawsuit to break the GOR, I believe there may be a plausible legal...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

If PAC schools join the ACC, I can’t see it being an opportunity for the ACC to renegotiate their deal. If that were the case, they would have expanded long ago. Nothing else will temper wandering eyes. Just leave the ACC alone. Nothing at all is happening with it for at least 8 years, not...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Absolutely. Nobody seems eager to try to break the GOR, no matter how good of lawyers they might have, or how much money they’d be “losing out in” by not being somewhere else. For the same reason, if expansion opens up the GOR, it’s going to get voted down something like 11-4 or 9-6 (10-4/8-6...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Yeah, but it would be totally on-brand for the PAC to present offers that are so horrible they would trigger an exodus after the exodus has already begun.

Gotta be honest, I’m rooting for this scenario.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

That’s a pretty accurate description of the situation. And it still sidesteps the B10 grabbing USCLA, the PAC’s inept management for the past decade at the conference and school level (with a few exceptions), the two times the PAC tried to kill the B12 and turning down a merger proposal in 2021.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

MWC schools would need to get somewhere in the range of $14M per year on a 5 year deal to break even with their buyout. More if they need to upgrade facilities, increase salaries, etc etc. They make ~$6.5 currently plus the $35M exit fee (for 2024). That’s doesn’t leave much room for finagling...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

There’ve been offers (reportedly) but nothing was put in front of members to consider. Which means they were absolute **** or wouldn’t be accepted. Or would make schools realize it was time to bolt.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

On one hand, I think if the offers the PAC has received were put in front of members back in March, April, May, or June, the exodus would have only begun sooner. On the other hand, delaying the inevitable took a very bad situation and made it into an existential crisis. If, say, 3 more schools...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

The PAC ****** around with the media deal long enough, and is now finding out as schools start to bolt. There are probably max 3 seats and 5 viable schools that could fill them. If ASU and Utah didn't figure out that it's no longer **** around time, they're going to find themselves either in the...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

If the opportunity is there, I think you level up at 16 for now. The only reason to stop at 14 would be at the request of ESPN or Fox balking at putting up the additional funds. However, you've got to think both were planning on this eventuality with how they've handled the PAC negotiations...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Each of their additions served a purpose, it's just none were really long-term gets. No one could have seen Nebraska being so mad at Texas that they methodically sabotaged their own program over 15 years. Sure, Rutgers and MD were great for revenue the B10 Network could generate, but that gravy...
