What is the peak for ISU's football program

I dont see why the football program can't get to the level of the basketball program one day (good but not elite). It's just as hard recruiting top basketball prospects from the inner cities to come to Ames as it is getting top football recruits from the south/california/florida, but the right...

That's true too. Like a David Johnson.

    NFL Stats Leaders/HS Recruiting Rankings

Notice almost all of the unranked and 2 star guys on that list are from Florida or California. A 2 star kid from those states and a 2 star kid from the midwest are unfortunately very different in most cases.

Most talented DT in the last 5 years

I think talent in basketball and talent in football are two very different things. If you have the right height/weight/speed (The "triangle" that NFL scouts all use), you are considered halfway there in football. Every NFL coach will think they can coach you up and will take chances on you in...

Most talented DT in the last 5 years

I realized after you quoted me that Tucker is actually a year older than Irving, not the same age, which is pretty crazy. But I get your point.

Most talented DT in the last 5 years

I think one thing that should be noted (and that I just realized) is that Tucker is actually a year older than Irving, believe it or not. So it may not be fair to compare a 23 year old Tucker tearing up the Big 12 last season with a 20 year old Irving who was just learning the position while he...

Most talented DT in the last 5 years

Obviously, since I didn't mention Aaron Donald or Ndamukong Suh. There's been surprisingly a lot of defensive tackle talent in Ames compared to the rest of the roster when you think about it. Ahtyba Rubin too, although not in that time frame.

Who would you guys go with? Irving? Tucker? Coe?

    Big 12 Embarrassing

Well.. looks like K State got destroyed and TCU is on their way to losing by 6-7 TDs.

    Big 12 Embarrassing

LOL what?? They got dominated from start to finish after the first drive of the game. The score would have been a lot worse if Clemson didn't make a ton of the mistakes they did in the first half.

Depth chart talk - going into dead recruiting period

George was short but I wouldn't call him small. He weighed in at 234 at the combine at 5'11". If he was 6'3" he would have easily weighed 250 or so. He had a thick frame and was as strong as they came. There is a big difference in JG's physique vs guys like Northrup, Peters, and Luke Knott.

Depth chart talk - going into dead recruiting period

I didn't include Maryland or Rutgers. Take Lavonte David and any other Nebraska LB off the list and Big 10 still has 3x as many starting linebackers in the NFL as the Big 12. Tazclone is right here. Having 210-220 pound linebackers is not going to get it done. Playing in the Big 12 is not an...

Depth chart talk - going into dead recruiting period

The Big 10 has better and faster linebackers than the Big 12 and it's not even close. See my post above. There are more Pro Bowl linebackers from the Big 10 in the NFL than there are starting NFL linebackers from the Big 12. Lavonte David and DeAndry Levy finished #1 and #3 in tackles last year...

RECRUITING: We landed a Grad Transfer O-Lineman

Those were all 2 and 3 star guys on Rivals and all were 0 stars on ESPN!! Since when do 2 and 3 star high school recruits make the NFL on natural ability without developing in college???

RECRUITING: We landed a Grad Transfer O-Lineman

Seriously? He developed KO, Hicks, Stephens, and Bykowski on the offensive line, all who spent time in the NFL. Then coached Brun and Bibbs when he moved to tight ends. You could make an argument that whatever position he coached was always the strength of the team while he was here.

Kyler Murray TA&M QB Transferring - 2nd in a Week

Agreed. They had 3 losses in their best season and didn't come close to contending for a title. They are an average team and always has been.

RECRUITING: We landed a Grad Transfer O-Lineman

Re: We landed a Grad Transfer O-Lineman I bet he starts at guard. That's where his NFL future is at.

SOURCES: Oyster out as S&C coach

I agree. Honestly, if a college offensive line coach DIDN'T teach his lineman to read dline stances I would think he was completely unqualified and lacking the knowledge to develop kids. They reach that stuff in high school in Texas.

^^^THIS. I'm willing to bet no one here talking about the treadmills has ever been on one or even know how they work. There is a reason why every combine training facility in the country has the treadmills and is probably THE biggest tool they use to increase stride frequency and drop 40 times...
