I don't know if any of these are still available?
Drewreys or
Schmidt - The Beer That Grew with the Great Northwest or
Carling Black Label anyone (this one is available)
An old favorite - Schmidt's of Philadelphia (not the same as the Minnesota brew.)
He didn't need a compass to know the Cave Inn was south of the stadium.
Yes, that was Clyde Williams and Torks Pub on West Street was where we headed during halftime.
We used to cheer "all the way to Lincoln Way" before the Cave Inn. But then I'm old as well. A few tried to keep it up in the...
I'm curiouswhy you are so anti-Santo? Did you ever see him play? Or do you dislike him because of his color commentary? I have to say during is tenure as the Cubs third baseman he was considered one of the best at his position. Don't compare him to Mays and Aaron. I watched many games in the...
Re: U of I Prof. accused of bribery is missing (body found?)
This is the most uninformed thing I have ever read on this site. You should be ashamed of your total lack of knowledge on this issue. Depression is not nearly as simple as you make it out to be. Take a few minutes and read up on...
Re: U of I Prof. accused of bribery is missing (body found?)
Or deep depression from being falsely accused?
I don't think suicide confirms anything. Sad story all around.
I understand your concern. Maybe it will rain Friday and you won't be able to get in the fields for harvest Saturday. But that isn't a very acceptable option either. Given the crop year maybe you won't be able to harvest until later in October--barring an early frost.
Yes Defense is the name of the game, but there comes a time when the safety of the athelete is more important. You don't see that many "horse-collar" tackles to begin with so banning them is only good sense. Anytime you use the personal protective equipment for leverage you are putting the...
What possible difference does the closeness of the race indicate to you. One second is a long time in swimming. Bottom line--he won.
Seven world records and one Olympic record all in one Olympics!
All of the events you mentioned are significant achievements, but the comment was made with the...
Folks...at some point this stuff needs to end. I'm tired of anytime there is a crime committed and in this case heinous crime someone has to bring up the Hawkeyes. Enough already. You point fingers at their fans behavior and then behave just like them. Grow up!
If you are not ashamed of...
I can agree with this one. I enjoyed this updated version of Quantum Leap.
I also think they gave the hook to Captain Video much too soon. Just as I was getting old enough to realize how cheesy and fun it was...it was gone.
You people amaze me. I have read nothing specific about what got him "kicked off" the team. I think you need to know some facts before you label him with crimes not committed or reported. I think JB has problems with authority and certainly has made some stupid mistakes in the past. Until I know...
Yes, you are correct. I should have said 1983. So far this year we've been cool and wet and hopefully won't get hot and dry for any extended period of time. The 1983 drought happened during the first year of the infamous PIK program as I recall.
History is a good indicator of a possible drought in 2008. Jumping to conclusions this early in a season is not good science. I certainly hope we don't get too dry, but 1988 was a wet spring and one of the worst drought years in (Iowa) history. I also notice the person quoted in the article is...
John Lennon,
Gram Parsons,
Steve Goodman,
Jerry Garcia,
George Harrison,
Duane Allman (Listen to the two anthology releases)
Jimi Hendrix,
Janis Joplin,
Otis Redding,
Stevie Ray Vaughn,
Buddy Holly. (He started it all!)
That's enough...for now.
I've been a Cubs fan since 1967 and a Red Sox fan since 1967 and an ISU fan since 1971. Lot of painful memories with a few good ones mixed in between the losses. Thank God for the Red Sox in recent years. There is hope.
