Remembering food and beverages from childhood

Not a particularly fond memory, but was anyone else forced to drink powdered milk as a kid in the 80's? God, that **** was gross. We didn't switch over to regular milk in a carton/plastic, until I was a teenager. After talking to my mom about it, as an adult, she said "We could have gotten...

Remembering food and beverages from childhood

On the occasion we got this, it was always in the giant can that you opened with a can opener. Big hole on the pour side, little hole opposite that to stop the glugging.

Go to the Dr. Pepper museum in TX. I haven't been there in probably 20 years, but IIRC they did sell older formulations of Dr. Pepper.

    Friday OT - R.O.C.K. In the U.S.A.

Led Zeplin is probably my favorite all round classic rock, but our home (as a kid) was mostly eagles(mom) and moody blues(dad). It's hard to stomach that the **** I listened to as a young adult is now old fart music to my kids. Good news is, as the kids get older they are becoming more...

    Alcohol vs Weed

When was the last time you tried weed? I tried it once in my early 20's and got nothing. Wife and I tried it two years ago, and what a difference. The stuff out there is so much better now. I enjoy a nice Indica or hybrid. Not really a fan of the sativa.

Friday OT - Don’t Tell Me Not To Be Afraid

I don't have a problem when there is a guard rail or some safety device, but if it is an overlook like the river overlook at the lost lake trail at the ledges, I feel like gravity is actually pulling me over the cliff. I realize its irrational and can overcome it, but I do get some intense...

Friday OT - Don’t Tell Me Not To Be Afraid

Tight spaces! Back in the 80's my sister had a waterbed with the headboard that had the deep shelves so under the shelves there was a small dead space about 12" x 12" that went all the way across the bed. occasionally I would have to go under there to fetch out a cat. They really loved to...

Somebody is walking by and spitting on my dog

yeah, for everyone promoting retaliation, spitting back on them, sick the dog on them... While being gratifying in the moment, all of these could land OP in jail for assault(even the spitting), or having to put the dog down for aggressive behavior. I know some of these are tongue in cheek, but...

Joe Burrow and Others purchasing Iowa Farm Land

O.K. but am I the only one who thinks she is not very attractive? I just cant get over her lips. It could also partially be that her character on Yellowstone is a very rough one.

Joe Burrow and Others purchasing Iowa Farm Land

If the soil conservationists are correct and we only have 50-60 years of agricultural life left in the soil, it will be interesting (not in a good way) as to what land prices will do. I'm no economist but what happens to a commodity as it is about to run out/become scarce? It shoots up in...

Dog Died - no clue why

We had to put our beloved Chelsea (12 YO GSP mix) this summer. She was the most gentile and loving dog ever(except for her whippy tail). A tumor in the chest cavity around the heart is what took her. She went from seemingly healthy to a small occasional cough to almost a constant cough in...

I took the kids to see "Spirited" last week, and it wasn't too bad. An interesting take on Scrooge.

    Friday OT - Tattoo You

Yeah, this is outside of my realm of expertise! Our printers print with ABS plastic and nothing outside of a 10" x 10" x 12" envelope. However, I recently saw some footage of a concrete poured 3-d house. I believe they program the pour and modify the layers by hand as needed. There is...

    Friday OT - Tattoo You

I accidentally stabbed myself in the left palm, just below the first knuckle with a rusty pick, removing support material from a 3-d print(at work). When the wound healed I had a small brown mole looking spot where the wound was. Does that count?

    Which entrée do you order?

For me, a big thick rare juicy ribeye is king!, Other than that, I agree. As I get older I am finding that we are eating pork a whole lot more. A smoked ribeye chop is a damn delicious thing. Ham and bacon are always good, and pretty damn hard to screw up. I have always preferred pork ribs...
