I agree. The offensive lineman he recruited are there for pass blocking. The run oriented offense they will probably go back to will take a whole lot of changes in either personel or mindset for the players they have. The Nebraska people I talked to say the change to running won't be easy...
I read the question differently. It was, which pro coach did a good job. For me it's hands down Callahan. Here's why
1. He did not only a good job, but a GREAT job of completely screwing up the Nebraksa football program.
2. He did a good job bilking Nebraska out of potentially millions of...
I was one who wanted Arnaud earlier, but as it turns out, waiting until the team was playing better was the right decision. To put him in against Texas could have shot his confidence. Now he's flying high. The coaches thought this out long and hard you can tell.
Tell the Peta people we were trying to free the poor defenseless animal from the bonds of man. We were successful until he was recaptured. We only had the best interest of the Buffalo at heart. (How does that sound)
We were lucky to have cameras, and never brought them to a game. Not sure anyone would have been sober enough to use them. Video cameras hadn't been invented yet. Wow, no VCR's, no cell phones, no video games. No wonder people drank.
One other note, very popular was passing people up the stadium. Students would get grabbed in a lower level of the stadium (cooperatively of course) and were passed up to the top of the stadium. It was amazing how far they would go getting passed above everyone. Is that still done in the...
The boys from Baker House started tailgating at Iowa State. Always first at the stadium gates and 12 packs of Schlitz were 99 cents. Unfortunately, they blew up our dorm Storms Hall. Good news was it was so soaked full of alcohol, they did not need any explosives.
I was a student at Iowa State in 1972 when we played Colorado. Normal proceedure was to get to the gate of Clyde Williams Stadium around 7:30 am (this was before tailgating was popular) and drink beer and get in the stadium first to sit on the 50 yard line. The entire west side was open...
At the old stadium, the students rushed the field BEFORE the game and made a tunnel for the players to run through. If there was a win (which was rare) any opportunity to get back on the field was taken.
I thought the Mizzou game was the worst officiating bias against Iowa State I've ever seen. Play after play of no call holding. And more of the same yesterday. I don't want to whine, but why should your won loss record impact officials calling the game correctly? Yesterday was more of the...
