El Bait Shop - Named one of 33 Best Beer Bars in the US

I'm pretty sure that Bruno has said that Coors Light and Miller Lite still outsell anything they have more than 2-1. Sad really...

El Bait Shop - Named one of 33 Best Beer Bars in the US

One of the best things about El Bait is that the bar staff (more so than the wait staff) is VERY knowledgable and has input on every beer on tap. If you tell them some things you like they will almost always steer you to a great beer and even offer a free sample to make sure.

    Kids in a bar/Thoughts

515 itself doesn't serve food but they have vendors serving food most of the time. I don't see it really as a bar either, it's more of a tasting room, a gathering spot that also has beer. There are kids at Confluence all the time. They take a break from riding with their family and play some...

Why USA isn't a world power in soccer (yet)

And the Dodgers ALONE will get $9 billion over 25 years. That's 360,000,000/ year for TV rights for ONE TEAM

Why USA isn't a world power in soccer (yet)

The reason this is valid is because there are fewer opportunities to go to a game making each one more of an event. One of the reasons college football stadiums are so big is because people know they only have 6-8 chances to see a game all year. People know they have 82 chances to see a...

Why USA isn't a world power in soccer (yet)

Reasons why soccer isn't as popular in the states. 1) We love offense. Not just scoring but OFFENSE. Almost every rule change in American sports is to help the offense. The shot clock, every rule in football, bringing in fences, etc. So much of soccer is teams going backwards, keeping the...

Why USA isn't a world power in soccer (yet)

We should just take Oregon and Washington and ONLY let them play soccer, no other sports and see what happens. The population would be similar to other countries and they already spend more on soccer than most other countries. Heck, the US spends more on soccer each year than the GDP of...

    New Jethro's opening in September

Probably chase another national chain out of here... Which I'm fine with... Or FD's will move out to the Jordan Creek area with the rest of the chains.

I would also add Kellen and Ryan Sweeney from Cedar Rapids. Both were second round draft picks and multi sport stars.

Most athletic family in the state

I am not sure how you couldn't. Pete may have disappointed due to injury but he was arguably better than Casey in High School. Ben Blake also played minor league baseball and was a star at Simpson. Joe Jr. was also a star at Simpson and Joe Sr. played minor league baseball and was an All...

WHO-TV's Sonya Heitshusen & Eric Wheater arrested for OWI

No, the guy hung up and they called him a coward because he wouldn't answer their question about why he lied to the call screener about what he wanted to talk about.

The Local Architect preying and profiting off the misfortunes of others is quite different than someone who MAY have had one drink too many.

WHO-TV's Sonya Heitshusen & Eric Wheater arrested for OWI

Exactly, these are private employees who just happen to live a public life. I can't think of a non public employee (you can argue where athletes fit on another thread) that has had a crime like this publicized on TV. Maybe if there was an accident or other crimes associated with it (Steve Lubke).

    Steakhouses

Must be talking about Prime Time! First time I ate there Bo Jackson was walking out. He was in town bow hunting in the area. Apparently they have had quite a few celebrities there because of the great hunting land around.

Haven't read a single thing in this thread, just saw the title and all I have to say is... Promise rings, NO!
