That team was capable of and just missed a national championship. This one may be the best since 00-01 team, but they still have unfinished business to claim that.
They’re a joy to watch, so I’m just going to enjoy doing that.
Our fiscal year goes March to March, so that's done for me. It's handy though, because the first two vacation days for me is always the start of March Madness.
My impression from watching them is that he is a pretty key piece that kind of balances everything out for them. Like a bunch of guards and then a rim protector.
That was one thing that used to drive me nuts. We could count on that at the start of the game and start of the second half, regardless of the results, good, bad or indifferent. Made it really hard to get a nice rotation going. Seems like TJ has guys in and out every few minutes throughout the game.
No doubt. When conference play started, I thought what a meat grinder that first half of the schedule is, but then it gets a lot easier. Now I look at it and think, damn, that's not all that easy.
I think that might be why some programs are struggling. You have to build a solid base so that you have some carryover and some firm identity that you add pieces to. I love how TJ has been doing it by adding some freshmen and then adding transfers that fit to that mix. I think that is the recipe...
@Sigmapolis did I miss the latest projection graphic after the Cincinnati game? I've tried searching the thread and can't find it, and not sure where you get it or I'd look myself.
Just looked, and the SEC is somehow creeping up really high in the NET. Alabama, Auburn and Tennessee are 5/6/7. South Carolina, who somehow got up to #11 in the polls just dropped from 45 to 51 in the NET.
Weird game to watch. Iowa looked like they had total control of the thing and then suddenly fell off a cliff. And that with one Maryland player leaving with a knee injury and another exiting with assistance (not sure if he came back or not).
Yeah, he may be smallish, but he plays exactly the way the other guys do. Fearless. Just needs to add 10-15 lbs and he'll be extremely tough on both ends.
It's fun to watch the replay and focus on the defense off the ball. When those traps come, and when we are recovering, the guys off the ball are sitting on passing angles. You can see that they've been well taught on what to expect the other team to do when they're trapped.
