Of course, but it also weight defensive efficiency into the formula, and there's absolutely zero evidence that it weighs offense more than defense. That would be incredibly illogical.

People focus too much on the ranking and not enough on the number that actually makes up the ranking for Kenpom (AdjEM). NET functions the same way, we just can't see the actual calculation. 8 thru 12 here have basically been hovering around the +24 mark in AdjEM for a while now. We were...

With Houston still having to play Kansas and Baylor, ISU is in a tricky situation where we want Houston to win those games to help our chances at getting Omaha but want KU/Baylor to win those games to help our chances at a Big 12 regular season title. Of course, that all becomes much easier if...

Iowa State is the new Press Virginia

I don't think I've seen anyone make what I think is the obvious comparison from a style of play standpoint, which is Chris Beard's Texas Tech teams. The defensive profiles are very similar. Force a lot of turnovers (TO%) and make it really hard for the opposition to score around the rim (2P%)...

The 2000 team that finished 10th in Kenpom is best in program history in Kenpom era. So this year has the potential to finish higher than that.

Look I'm not going to get in a debate over this, as I meant it more light-heartedly as white players often get compared to white players and black players often get compared to black players. During the KU game against Houston, I had to laugh at Fran comparing Furphy to Christian Braun and Svi...

Here's our depth chart over the past 5 games. We're literally giving Milan 18% of minutes at the 4 over these last 5 games. Our 3rd and 4th most frequent lineups are Tamin/Gilbert/C Jones/Milan and then either Rob or Ward at the 5 over the last 5 games. So "if you include Momcilovic upfront...

Just like Omaha is playing considerable minutes this season? It's really freaking hard to play as a freshman big in the Big 12. The two who are succeeding this year, Missi and Tugler, are both athletic freaks. We haven't seen a second of Rock and people are penciling him in for 12-15 minutes a...

People expecting Rock to start next year I think are setting themselves up for disappointment. It will essentially be his freshman year, after a year of not playing and his body still needing work. Plus, he's coming from South Dakota HS basketball, which isn't super competitive. I imagine he'll...

My two takes on this: NCSOS is meaningless. I have no idea why anyone cares about it. It's 13 games out of 31 (or 11 out of 31 in the case of 20-game leagues like the Big Ten, ACC, Big East). The reason Oglesby is talking about NCSOS instead of overall SOS is because if you start including...

*** Official Kansas State vs #23 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Based on Williams tweet about K-State coaches yelling "cheating mother-fers", I had to break down the handshake encounter. My amateur lip-reading has Tang saying "I'm not accusing you" at the start of this video. Then he points toward the basket where the managers/floor sweepers sit and says...

    I will effing take it

TCU never had possession with the margin being less than 4. Of course winning by double digits would have been preferred, but that final 3 made the score/game look even closer or more tense than it was.

Before Big 12 play started, we had the most difficult conference SOS per Torvik. Going 1-1 starting at OU and Houston at home should be viewed as a positive. Remaining SOS is now 10th hardest in the league.

That was my only concern as well. Think the drive to Ames will be fine. Post-game drive will be slow but it typically is anyway a lot of the time.

What you're looking for is WAB (Wins Above Bubble). Some people have argued the committee needs to add it to the team sheets when looking at profiles, and some have argued that should just be the metric that decides at-large inclusion. Just rank them by WAB and seed them accordingly. Torvik...

The belly-aching about the NET in December is a complete waste of time. Guess what? If Iowa State is still #6 in March, it means they will have either: A) beaten a bunch of really good teams or B) blown out all the Big 12 teams on their schedule they should beat and had very close losses to the...
