    Echoing what people said, played a game that wasn't even our best and very easily could have won. Officials were fine, simply too many empty possessions. Loss doesn't hurt the team one bit outside of a missed opportunity.

    Playoff expansion may make it more difficult for a Big 12 team to win a title. More access, but a team like Alabama was likely one of the four most talented teams out there, and now some of these more talented teams will have a pathway that they were shut out of previously.

    No, but if you bump a game from + to linear, then you're also bumping one down and I'm assuming they'd try harder to avoid that. Games do get bumped every once in a blue moon if a game is cancelled or postponed I believe.

    ESPN+ used to be the name for the games that used to be put into syndication and picked up by local stations. ESPN basically dusted off the name for streaming. That game was quite likely on WOI at the time.

    ESPN and Conferences do not do deals based on bar availability for games.

    Texas Tech has the second biggest arena and is second in the league in attendance. Its good enough to be a national game, but I'm guessing each school has to appear a certain number of times and this happened to be one of the games that they didn't think would draw crazy ratings.

    It's certainly not the conference game that will draw the best ratings for ESPN, if it was it would not be on ESPN+. Those are the games against Texas. Just because its the most interesting game for Iowa State fans does not mean its the most interesting game to ESPN.
