Who will Chizik bring with him?

This from teh UT board about a 5star QB recruit: "I'm not sure, but I think Chizik is the connection to the Brantley family that helped get John Brantley's commitment. Think I read that he and John's uncle, Scott Brantley, know each other well." That would be awsome!

    Am I the only one...

You are not alone on the JH hype. I wouldn't go as far as the statement about great players being great coaches just because I don't know. I do feel he sorely lacks experience at a major level and it is a big stpe from where he is to where we are.

    How attractive is Ames?

I live in Ames and commute to DSM. It depends on what you want, Ames is a great town for the midwest, but we won't be growing any mountains nor having any beaches anytime soon. Coaches come in and are welcomed right away, not as coach so and so, but a a new neighbor. A quick personal...

Harbaugh's resume' again incase some of you missed it. IMPRESSIVE!

If that was intended for me... without a doubt, but I will be surprised, no, very surprised if Jaime picks this guy. If he does he must be very special. Boot - What NFL caoching exp does he have? I read what is below and don't see it.

Harbaugh's resume' again incase some of you missed it. IMPRESSIVE!

Looking... looking... NOPE, no DI experience at all. This guy may be a great DI coach some day but we can't afford to wait for him to grow into the job. I hope we pass.

Loney or Rhoads, don't make the mistake

I think Loney has been successful. He was here during our most successful seasons, he turned the Mn line into a solid unit that had great rushing. He has been part of some good to great teams. I think is is a better choice than Harbough who has success at the JV level only (while coaching).

If we beat Missouri, do we rush the field?

I would think a constant cheer of "THANK YOU MAC...THANK YOU MAC..." would be more appropriate.

    Go Figure

The fact that Mac will be missed does not mean letting him go is wrong. I think Mac did a ton for ISU football and I will miss having his infectious enthusiasm around. However, I think his time has come. We should celebrate the highs, forget the lows, thank him and look towards the future. I...

Problem with Iowa State - reality!

If we win - consistently more people will become interested, more tv, more money. The problem now if we have had the same crap served to us for so long. I look for an increase in season ticket saels next year, even with the increase of price. My guess is a good hire and we are at 35-40K season...

    Blythe is the new Haluska?

    Perfect Fit

The last Nebby guy being Cotton I assume. Give the guy a break, he came into a mess from Fine's crap and has one recruiting season under him. I think over time his mentality and coaching ability could have helped the program. The crappy line play this year and last lays at Mccarney's feet...

    Offensive & Defensive Coordinators...

I think part of the reason Barney is not "getting it done" as everyone is saying is a decision Mac made three to four years ago when he held onto Fine to long. Mac made a bad decision then and should pay for it now. The replacement of coordinators won't make enough of a difference. From what I...

Steve Loney was in town on Saturday?

Is this the dream team, Harbaugh Head Coach, Loney Asst HC?

Wrong - his buyout is his base salasry for the remaining years of his contract over ther term of the contract. That is in the 225K range per year.

    I don't understand

A new coach only has to boost season ticket sales by 750-800 tickeat to pay for Macs buyout.
  16. B

Pollard setting a new hiring record?

The buyout is actually pretty small and it is ammortized over the remaining term of Dan's contract. It is just slightly north of $200k per year - about 769 season tickets per year, if my math is correct. That is the question is getting rid of Dan or keeping Dan worth 769 season tickets? Would...

    The turmoil within…

Actually 22 the same crap was happening during the 2-10 season. Fights between players, fights between players and coaches, fights between coaches... This season is like de ja vu all over agian with the 2-10 season.

    name 10 replacements for Mac

Re: If not Mac then who? The MAJOR difference between the cardinals and ISU is Loney is in his first year dealing with the players has has been dealt. I am not a Cardinals fan (baseball or football) so I don't know makes player and talent decisions. I liken Loney's situation to Cotton's...

    name 10 replacements for Mac

Re: If not Mac then who? Loney is not the OC just the Oline coach so I doubt he calls the plays. The other thing to keep in mind is the Cards, like Cotton, have to call plays that the offense has a chance to execute. They have a sorry Oline like a team I know in Ames which really, severly...

3 Observations from Saturday and this weekend

Monkey - in my opinion there is a difference between slight typos done in haste and reading a post where one says I choose not to buy tickets and thinking that means I can't afford them. I am definitely not an English or Lit major so my syntax is going to be a little off - I always got better...
