Actually Burton kept us in this game. You must not have watched. Nader was terrible. He lets his guy blow by him on defense the whole game. Way too many turnovers. And takes bad shots.
When Nader is good he is good. But half the games he is terrible in all aspects of the game. No excuse why Burton was not in for him those last 5 minutes.
I would love to have better point production from our bench as much as anyone. However, our losses have not come because of our offense. In our 4 losses our average score was 85 points a game. So personally, I would rather have better defensive production from our bench. I think Ashton is...
I also think that his role has changed. Fred tried to use him like Tyrus McGee. So a lot of pressure to come in and hit shots immediately. If he didn't within a few minutes of play he was back on the bench.
I was baffled as well. On 3 successive possessions in the last 5 minutes he had a turnover, shot and missed a mid-range fade away, and drove to the hoop and either got it blocked or shot a 3 foot air-ball. Burton did not score a point and was clearly better then Nader. Maybe Burton was sick...
I have to disagree. I think Nader is the worst defensive player. His man goes by him every time because he has this belief tha he can block it from behind. Which he does 1 out of 10 lay ups.
I say keep upping his minutes to a point he gets more then Nader. However, because of depth we have to have Nader. And there is a bigger chance of Nader sulking then Burton for not starting. So I think we have to start Nader.
This ticky-tac foul calling will NOT continue into the conference schedules. Or else Mich. St. , Kansas, Duke, KY, Louisville, etc... will not have enough players to finish the game.
Better Defense - especially closing out on the 3's.
More consistency or urgency to start games. Do we seriously have to get down by double digits every game?
More energy from the bench. When we have those games like South Carolina, Texas Tech, and UAB the coach needs to explode or do something...
Well unlike ISU he had to be nearly perfect to make the tourney at Murray St. Go nearly undefeated and lose in their conference tourney for whatever reason and they were out. At ISU we have the luxury to be able to lose to the Texas Tech's of the world and still get in.
Yes by all means we should let the inmates run the asylum. The same players that supposedly told Chris that they don't need Moses to lead them to the promise land. The same players that had Moses and bowed out to UAB. Suck it up and just win baby!
Yea I agree. I just think this year will determine how much leeway the new coach gets from the fans in the 2016-17 season. If for whatever reason this coming season is not at least as good as this past one, (and I think most think it will be better) the honeymoon will be over and pressure will...
