Biggest positive for Fred was surrounding himself with good assistants - Phrom has never swallowed his pride and done that

IF (and that’s a big IF) Fred comes back I would expect him to be even more hungry, cause if he fails that will greatly tarnish his ISU legacy and image. That was my main argument into him not coming back, why put yourself in that stress?

 Same was said about the Hoiberg hire I would bet given size of university Pollard has one of the most successful athletic departments (businesses) in the entire country!!

lol you’re right :jimlad: - the most successful football coach in ISU history and arguably the most successful bball coach in ISU history -totally sucky at hiring!! not every coach is going to pan out at any university. Saying he is not good at hiring is ridiculous!!

I think you missed my point I would consider 54-10 successful at any level. I don’t think Phrom is a good coach and has inherited good players everywhere he has been to help with his success. I think he is a great “coach” at a lower level because he can identify under the radar guard talent...

Not at all what I said a record of 27-3 is successful doesn’t mean we want that coach it’s a different level and that is where Phrom is/was “successful” you’re comparing apples to desk lamps

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

not sure how that has any relevance but ok.. we’re not sad to see him go either I think he’s a bad coach, but to say he wasn’t successful at a lower level with a 54-10 record is ridiculous

he was 54-10 at Murray State, I would consider that super successful and you would too if that was isu

in your box of only considering bball and football maybe Look at other sports and facilities!! If you think pollard is a failure you are a complete idiot!!

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

interesting thought same can be said for Phrom, super successful at a lower level where recruiting talent was enough to win and they didn’t need “coaching”

much easier to sink a program in two years (Phrom) than it is to build a program. whoever the next coach is we need to be realistic with expectations! If that happens sooner than later great!!! But, this is likely going to take some time and ultimately Cyclone fans (myself included) are not...

People forget this is ultimately a business, and Pollard is a great business man

I didn’t say I think TJ is the right hire but people getting on Pollard need to look at the guys resume and what he has done for ISU collectively

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

Pollard has done more for ISU athletes than any other person in ISU history

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

we’ll have to agree to disagree I have seen it all over social media people think he would immediately take us back to the glory days. Not necessarily saying just here. Ultimately some fans are dumb and unrealistic! 1) He has sucked everywhere as a head coach besides isu 2) I will agree...

exactly I think Hoiberg could be successful round two, BUT it would likely take longer to get that success this round with the dumpster fire we have now and the state of men’s basketball (ie transfer market different now) I personally think it would be extremely stressful coming back with the...

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

I disagree - I think several people think he and the program will be right back to where we were when he left and that’s not realistic. Not saying he can’t do it over time but people need to temper that expectation

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

I didn’t say that either, I think people just need to temper expectations

You Hoiberg lovers do realize the likelihood of him having immediate success like last time is very low right? People think he is going to ride in on this white horse and have us as an instant top 10 team - it isn’t happening! he caught lightning in a bottle the first go round and likely could...
