The field goal against Alabama was good. Yelk was forced to talk about the field goal every Sunday brunch at Gateway for the next two years, while running the flambe cart. Also that was the last time and only time Iowa State was on Alabama's level for football.- merx

Iowa Hot Take: Big 10 Contraction
An option could be to go back the conferences as they existed prior to the 1990s realignments. Big 8, PAC-10, SWC, Big East and have football only conferences that can be all over the map.- merx

Could the 7 conferences with 8, 9 or 10 teams be done as a football only alignment? Leave the conferences in place for all other sports, that way conferences can still have their TV contracts.- merx

I did something similar but took all the FBS teams into 16 divisions of 8 or 9 and 8 conferences. The thinking being that all 8 conference champs would make the play-offs and the conference championship games act as a 1st round play-off game.- merx

My wife and I stayed in the Atanasoff Suite at the Gateway Hotel our wedding night, rooms on the eighth floor have a pretty good view. Also the suite is amazing, it was redone about 7 years ago when I worked there, they redid a lot of the rooms at the time. -

I always thought 1vs4 and 2vs3 with the plus one is a great idea, just add the Cotton Bowl to the BCS. This way there the same numbers of teams have access to the BCS, and there is one more BCS game. And one more BCS game means more money, and 2 more teams have a shot at the NC.- merx

I think MWC is the best case scenario for us, worst case C-USA or MAC. Unless SEC takes an ACC or Big East school as a fourteenth member. (If SEC adds an ACC school with aTm, then the ACC takes a school from the Big East opening up a spot for us). Otherwise its MWC and we can look forward to...- merx
