My wife and I will be looking to buy an L shaped couch and rug if anyone has any good recommendations on those would love to hear them. Would like to be able to find something in the $1,500-$2,000 range for the couch. Haven’t had that great of luck with lazy-boy.

That’s good I wasn’t trying to. Also already said in a previous post that I don’t think they will ruin it but if they do we won’t lose sleep over it.

No? Lol I just said its about me and my wife.. I’ll probably be driving in todays dollar a 5k-10k car the rest of my life. Not because we can’t afford something nicer but because I don’t see any value in buying 15k-30k car just to drive from home to work and back. We don’t put a lot of value...

Those are good points and I have thought about that. Worst case we will just use the wood to make something else if the kids end up not needing it or it doesn’t meet safety standards.

Yep it absolutely is about me and my wife. Don’t give a rip what the kid thinks of it.

To think you can determine a purchase irresponsible simply based on the dollar amount is moronic.

More so talking to the people calling me smug. Also no one that has said not to buy it has responded with experience of dealing with heirloom furniture. I don’t care if your kid destroyed your Walmart crib I’m not buying that.

What other details do you want to know? Don’t really know any other details outside of it being oak.

    Redekers

Nah I like to include details and I’m not going to make my post more vague just to cater to the insecure people on this board. I’ll just have to stick with bogglehead for financial post.

The $2,500 is for the crib and dresser. Yes I threw the dollar amount in there because maybe someone else has bought a nursery set from there recently. They could tell me if the dollar amount seemed high or not. It’s pretty annoying that you can’t post asking for advice on buying a premium...

I think you totally missed my point. While maybe we are splurging on furniture we spend way less than the average person on other items like cars.

The funny thing is most of the people calling me crazy for spending $2,500 to furnish our nursery are the same ones that will go out and borrow 25k-30k on their next car purchase lol.

Because I’ve never bought at Redekers and will more than likely buy our bed set from there as well. Simply wanted to know if haggling was common there or if they’re pretty set on their prices. I didn’t look at the Amish site until after my original post. Also I’m not the one who brought up cash...

Yeah I don’t expect them to move much if at all. They have amish people that make the cribs upon order. I checked an amish site and their cheapest crib is more expensive than Redekers.

INhonest Given the fact that I don’t think I could break the crib myself without tools I’m not too worried.

    Redekers

Convertible cribs sounds silly to us so we will be avoiding those. I’m aware it’s pretty expensive but kids aren’t going to destroy a well made solid oak crib. If our kids somehow manage to destroy it then props to them we won’t lose sleep over it. The idea though is to use it for grandkids or...

Wife and I are looking at buying a crib and dresser from Redekers for our nursery room. We were quoted around $2,500 for both and was curious if anyone here has had any experience negotiating on their furniture. Is it unreasable to try an get 10% knocked off the price?

    NCAA tournament - DesMoines

I locked up 8 since it's a win win situation. Either Iowa State makes it or I get to make money off of Jayhawks fans maybe even Iowa fans. Making 2k off Iowa fans two years ago when they were a "lock" for Des Moines was priceless.
