Friday OT #2 - Like Will Smith Pre-Slap

José Andrés. The work he does for disaster relief is fantastic. In that same vein, Willie Ray Fairley out of Cedar Rapids. He helped out so many after the Derecho, and now will travel to large scale disasters so folks can eat.

Friday OT #1 - Whatcha Got

I toured Maker's Mark about a decade ago and got to dip my own small bottle of whiskey in the red wax. Still have the bottle on a shelf.

    Friday OT #1 - Pig’s Blood

Love the title. My favorite memory from undergrad homecoming was going "duck hunting" in the morning before the parade.

Friday OT #2 - Strange Fruit

Spouse and I were headed back from a trip through Colorado and stayed the night in Omaha. When we got up in the morning, we didn't want to eat in the hotel, and it was a nice morning, so we found a local place within walking distance and ended up at the Kitchen Table. There was already a line...

    Winter tires - General Thread

Used to do that with my Focus when I lived up near Mason City. Since I travel quite a bit during the winter months around the Midwest, it's cheaper than insurance on a different vehicle.

On That Note: ’97 at 25

Another favorite album from 1997 is Pavement's Brighten the Corners. I really enjoy the transitions in Stereo. Shady Lane shows the softer side of Pavement. Starlings of the Slipstream echoes what a lot of Stephen Malkmus' solo career would sound like. My favorite song on the album is...

On That Note: ’97 at 25

One of my favorite albums to come out during 1997 that hasn't been named yet is Lonesome Crowded West by Modest Mouse. I love the intro of Doin' the Cockroach Polar Opposites is a great tune in the vein of quiet to loud transition. Bankrupt on Selling is a great closing tune. ... and my...

    Winter tires - General Thread

I have Blizzaks on my Honda (they were previously on my Mazdaspeed6) and they are good. My personal favorite when it comes to snow tires is the Michelin Xice when it comes to ride/sound.

RIP Angela Lansbury AKA Jessica Fletcher

One of my favorite movies growing up was Bed Knobs and Broomsticks. Still a favorite and worth a watch this week.

    Friday OT #2 - Seek & Destroy

More progressive, with a lot of folks who are environmentalists, due to the proximity to National Parks and wilderness areas. Get outside the metro areas and it can be more mixed.

    Friday OT #2 - Seek & Destroy

I can't live any further South than Iowa. It's too hot and humid for me. Spouse and I are looking further North when we retire. Duluth is high on the list.

Friday OT #1 - That Funny Old Feeling

Pickled herring around the holidays. Family tradition, and it only tastes good at that time. Must be on a saltine cracker.

Friday OT #2 - Revisiting the Classics

I was listening to some old Rolling Stones albums, and I usually stick to Sticky Fingers and Let it Bleed. Whenever I tried to listen to Exile on Main Street, it would never land. I didn't get it, and it didn't seem to fit with their other Mick Taylor albums. I read an article comparing GnR's...

Late night delivery and rice krispy bars the size of your head? You know that place was a favorite.
