    This is the rate of violent crimes which I agree have generally decreased over time, not the specific category of mass murders which are increasing.

    Show me a per capita on mass shootings/murder that breaks it down by year. Due to trouble with definitions and differences in reporting/collecting data on this, it is difficult to get a per capita rate, but the incidence has a very clear upward trend.
