I don't understand how anyone has ever liked Tang

I think this is worse than anything Campbell has done, I'm just saying I read a lot of other Big 12 boards and Twitter, and most non-ISU fans that pay attention to our program think Campbell is a crybaby. Not my opinion, but it is a prevalent one to pretty much everyone else besides us.

I don't understand how anyone has ever liked Tang

Tang's a good coach and it's obvious his players and fans love him. To everyone else, he's a psycho crybaby. FWIW, this is exactly how most of the Big 12 fans view Campbell, with his numerous freakouts at the refs.

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Probably because they didn't border the other school districts. You had North Central and St Ansgar in between them and the Lake Mills/Northwood area.

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

New Hampton has never been close to Charles City in population. I think today it actually feels larger than it is because of the Highway 63 bypass and all the stuff that popped up at the Highway 18 exit to serve passers by. I think maybe it was just your perception as a kid? My wife's from...

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

I'd disagree myself. Osage (and Mitchell County) are much more north central Iowa than northeast Iowa, IMO. It's a part of the Mason City economic orbit (places to the east are not), it's flat, and it just seemed like growing up around there that everyone went to the west for sports, commerce...

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Yeah. The NEIC has the 3 schools in the 3A/4A size range with CC, Waverly, and Decorah and the 3 schools in the 2A/3A range (Cresco, NH, Waukon). I think New Hampton has been the smallest school in the NEIC ever since Oelwein left. I think they're a bit smaller than Cresco and Waukon even. I...

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

I think we agree. I'm saying that there was no reason to merge the NIC and CB in any fashion. They should have just stayed as they were, with some minor tweaks (like Northwood joining the CB due to school size).

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Osage wasn't that much of an outlier, and they were a lot bigger than the Corn Bowl schools (still are). North Central was absolutely god awful in the Corn Belt days. In everything. Them and Osage being where they were made sense competitively and geographically, even if NC fit the NIC a...

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

For sports outside of football, it makes it easier to schedule. A district won't provide enough games to fill a schedule and a conference can bridge that gap. Otherwise, I tend to agree with this.

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Some of them were in the Corn Bowl historically. Riceville was before going to 8 man. I can't remember if Clarksville was ever part of it or not.

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Yeah. Some of these smaller schools have become cockroaches. Riceville and Turkey Valley are two close to me that I thought would be dead by now, but both seem relatively stable and in Riceville's case actually have larger classes than they did 20 years ago. I assume someday they will go...

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

TI is basically North Iowa + Corn Bowl with a couple falling off in either direction, right?

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

That makes sense. South Winn and MFL have been really competitive for quite awhile, and like you said, the socioeconomic situation in this area is a bit different than a lot of rural Iowa. It's more the Turkey Valleys, Postvilles, and West Centrals that seem like they'd be in a rough spot.

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Yeah, that's gotta be the craziest geography for a HS conference I've ever seen. It's basically every 8 man school north of I-80, east of I-35, and outside of the Driftless Area.

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

I would doubt that. They would be a severe geographic outlier and one of the smallest schools. The Upper Iowa Conference is currently: Central Elkader Clayton Ridge Kee of Lansing MFL MarMac North Fayette Valley Postville South Winneshiek Turkey Valley West Central Maynard I just found where...

Charles City looking to form new conference after racial issues

Cresco will be the biggest school in the UIC and by a similar margin to Waverly in the NEIC. It's quite hypocritical. New Hampton and Waukon joining would make that less ridiculous, because they aren't a lot smaller than Cresco, and you would then have a group of 2A football schools in Cresco...

This tells me that Campbell has probably tabbed Rasheed to take over when Heacock retires.

What do you prefer for NFL games?

Probably Fox, but honestly I don't care that much. I notice the announcers a lot more in college basketball than any other sport, honestly. I suppose that's because I'm always watch football in a group setting and am not paying attention to the announcers, and any week night hoops I'm watching...
