Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

"As I got on campus and in the program their true colors started to show. Iowa literally tells their players, We don't have to be nice, we got y'all here now. Once you sign that letter of intent, you are ours." That's gonna sit real well with their recruits.

Kirk Ferentz getting sued for being racist

If I were a betting man, I'd say Doyle will be the sacrificial lamb. It's strange, though, that he'll be fired for making racist comments to players, and yet he wasn't disciplined at all for putting 13 players in the hospital. Not only was he not disciplined, he received the new Assistant...

Iowa State University - Des Moines presence

Several years ago, it appeared the funding formula for Iowa's public universities might be changed so that the funding would be tied directly to the number of Iowa residents enrolled at each institution. In other words, our tax dollars would follow the Iowa residents. This change would have...

Football seats are protected UPDATE 6.1.20

Entering and exiting the stadium will be interesting as well. I heard speculation that exiting the stadium could be like exiting a wedding ceremony, except we probably won't get to give coach Campbell a hug on the way out.

    Fred Willard has passed away

Loved his character on Everyone Loves Rayman. He played Amy's holier than thou father who secretly loved to blow stuff up.

Greg Ross - New grad transfer

Yep, it's a done deal. Because of a recent rule change, grad transfers no longer have to be enrolled in a graduate program to be eligible to compete. They can be enrolled in undergraduate coursework, which makes it a lot easier for the athlete and for the receiving Institution.

Pat Forde on Kansas' hoops recruiting (FBI-related)

North Carolina was found guilty of the largest case of academic fraud in the history of collegiate athletics involving HUNDREDS of athletes over a DECADE. The very next year their football team is playing in a bowl game and their basketball team is playing in the dance. It's all a sham, so...

Coronavirus Coronavirus: In-Iowa General Discussion (Not Limited)

While it's true that the mortality rate for flu is not based on serology testing, the point is that scientists estimate roughly 1 in a thousand flu victims dies from the virus, and scientists also estimate roughly the same proportion of CIVID-19 victims die from that virus. I trust the science.

Coronavirus Coronavirus: In-Iowa General Discussion (Not Limited)

To me, the good news from these studies is the mortality rate is once again found to be in the neighborhood of the flu. The bad news is that even though the spread of the virus is 50 times greater than the number of cases officially reported, only about 5% of the total population has had it, so...

Coronavirus Coronavirus: In-Iowa General Discussion (Not Limited)

Results are in from mass blood serology testing from California. Shows the actual number of people who've had the virus is 50-80 times greater than the number that's being officially reported. Also shows the actual mortality rate is 0.12-0.2 percent. The mortality rate for flu is 0.1 percent.

    Thread of great guitarists

I'd have to go with Terry Kath, original member of Chicago. He's the only guy I know who could play lead and rhythm,,,at the same time. Jimi Hendrix once told the members of Chicago "Your guitar player is better than me."

Coronavirus Coronavirus: In-Iowa General Discussion (Not Limited)

I would guess Wintersteen will soon be announcing university closure and I'm hoping faculty/staff who can work from home will be encouraged to do so. That'll be a mess though, because there are many positions at the university which cannot work from home. Man oh man, how will they sort all...

Dow down 3,000 points in the last week

I'm a few years from retirement and I've got a decent nest egg built. When Trump took office 3 years ago, I had a bad feeling the market was going to get very volatile, so I made 70% of my assets guaranteed (not affected by the market) and I'm feeling pretty good about that move right now.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

As a Cyclone fan, I sure hope Garza moves up the NBA draft board as quickly as possible. Don't want to watch him wearing black and gold next season. It figures that our great players leave early for the NBA and their great players hang around for all 4 years.

Lot of key offensive plays for us tonight, but this game was won on the defensive end. Hold teams to 63 points and you'll win way more often than not.

    Pedestrian Bridge

I knew the Athletic Department was planning a pedestrian bridge over University Boulevard, but I had no idea the bridge would extend all the way to the stadium's east concourse. That will be really nice for both the pedestrians and the cars! This will be presented at the February Board of...
