Coaching Graveyard or Great Place to Coach?

I can just imagine it. JP is reading through this forum for advice and reads your post. Thinks about it, and decides against your advice. I should take this place more seriously. Or, have you tried an anonymous open letter?

Coaching Graveyard or Great Place to Coach?

This really has very little to do with what "Pollard wants to pay". Fact is, Iowa State fans are cheap. If Pollard was sitting on a pile of money and not doing anything with it, then you can say he's cheap. There isn't $3M per year available to pay a coach.

    Tailgaiting in Norman

I went there when ISU was ranked #9. The tailgating sucked. Almost as much as we did that game. Stadium was really cool, though. Maybe it has improved, because that was a long time ago. I can't believe I just typed ISU was ranked #9. Seems like we are so far from those times.

Blowout loss to Baylor, Rhoads fired?

Pollard is cheap because Cyclone fans are cheap. If we had a big number of donors lined up, this wouldn't be an issue. People that complain about CPR's salary being so high better realize he generally finishes in the same spot in both W-L and pay.

    Watching stupid people do math

Your post here is very true, but isn't CycloneFanatic about belittling what other people do?

    Wish me luck

Whenever I see this thread back on the front page, I am always apprehensive about opening it just in case there was a relapse. But, so far, I've opened it and just been like "Yeah, buddy!". As others have said, even though I don't know this person, I feel like I do and am so happy to get the...

BLUM: The tall tale of Troy...

Love old TD stories. I was in school at the time, and besides all of his running, which was unbelievable, two stories stick to me to this day: 1. He worked at the old West Hy-Vee. Like actually worked, not just Hy-Vee paying the guy through some under the table thing. Was just amazing to see...

    Spain Trip

I can't imagine the plane ride alone for Jameel is much fun. Then, having to sit down on an airplane toilet because of the candy apple splatters?? Can't image the horror. Hope he's been keeping up with his yoga.

Central IA Girls Little League Being Cheated in World Series

Really happy about this result, but can't stand to think about what this did to the Wests' kids. Wasn't their deal, and they're punished for it. Man, adults really do screw up their kids sporting activities. Hopefully any of us with kids in sports can take this lesson and learn from it. Man...

Central IA Girls Little League Being Cheated in World Series

Getting teams PT is actually required. However, swinging at balls and bunting just to strike out is against the rules. Losing is one thing, but absolutely tanking the game is clearly against the rules. I just don't get how adults get thrown into a U12 (or whatever age this is) kids game and...

    Lazer 103.3

It seems this station is trying to turn into KGGO lately. I sometimes hear newer songs on KGGO. Why can't we have a station that plays current rock with a few of the "older" ones mixed in instead of the other way around? Is there no more new rock?

    Best Concert Ever Attended

It was just wild. I hadn't heard of Manson before the show, so what he did at that show was an eye opener for me! I don't think the mods would let me describe what we saw that day. We didn't see stuff like that in Algona, and it was pre-internet.

    Best Concert Ever Attended

Most memorable (best?) was Nine Inch Nails in Iowa City in 1994. Was a junior in high school and had never (and haven't since) seen anything like that show. Marilyn Manson and the Jim Rose Side Show opened. Was pure chaos. No security except along the stage when NIN took the stage--they were...

    Friday 5: Flag designs

How long has this flag been Iowa's flag? Wasn't this a ***** to sew back before we had sweat shops? I mean, I can't imagine many people sewing one of these up before battle.

WBB considering switch from halves to quarters

This could be great (for men's and women's) if it got rid of one TV timout in each half. One TV at the 5-minute mark and one at quarter. But, how do we recoup TV dollars in that scenario? I guess it won't happen.

Performance-based state funding and how you can help ISU

I actually heard back from my rep, but not my senator. Was happy and surprised to get a response, actually.

    Any concrete experts onboard?

This was the price last year in Ames, too. Not sure what it is this year, but I doubt it's going down. Add in labor and I can see how you'd get to $1700. Especially how others have mentioned "mobilization".

When do you start to dislike someone

I am thankful and appreciate his time here. I hope he fails at St. Johns because he is competing against ISU. I hope we hire him back because he is an excellent recruiter. It's OK to like a guy for what he did, and not like him for what he's doing now. Yes, he's just doing his job. Doesn't...
