    I just tried out the LTE here and got 20Mbps down and 16 Mbps up. I'm sure there weren't many other people on it this morning, though. I'm a little sad that it looks like the LTE coverage doesn't quite reach to my house.

    Verizon 4G not coming to Ames

    I have been hearing 2012 for Ames for quite a while. Not really surprising with all the fiber that is currently being run in Ames to the cell towers. Even over the weekend I saw spools of conduit and fiber sitting at one of the Verizon cell towers waiting to be deployed.

    You are assuming that ANY choice is available. In my part of Ames I can't get Qwest, Mediacom, or ICS. There are no good options. AT&T just got 3G here and Verizon has unreliable service. Neither of those are even fast enough to stream video, and if they could the bandwidth overages would be insane.
