    Nobody broadcasts in 1080p at the moment, and it's unlikely they will anytime soon. For watching sports, 720p Plasmas are about the best thing on the market. My guess is you're seeing the limitations of Mediacom. There's no real way to find out for sure until you switch though.

    "Melting" graphics card shouldn't have required you to format the hard drive... Also, why did the card "melt"? It's possible that a bad power supply could have dorked your whole system up, if it was the cause of your graphics card meltdown.
