    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I still think this ends with the Pac 10 staying together, taking a bad media deal ($7 plus million behind the B12 on media only), and the Pac 10 celebrating. They’ll claim prestige/academics and the rest of the country will laugh. Enjoy being a 2 bid basketball league with your football champ...

    ***Official 2023 Weather Thread***

I was on a conference call yesterday where there are guys planting in South Texas in the Rio Grand Valley. Moisture is the soil so it was full send.

If that other one on the scoop & score was incomplete, then so is this one

    Gold out: yes or no?

Got free tickets for tomorrow. Unless they’re giving out a XL gold shirt, I ain’t wearing gold

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Maybe they’re closer than I thought after reading that article. The only way forward though does seem to be giving Fox future non-con games. Realistically Fox would need to replace those 8 games between now and 2030. Texas is going to need to replace Florida and Georgia in 2028-2030. Baylor...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

So assuming they are using the 5-4-4 scheduling method and that KSU, KU, Cincy, OSU, and OU are our 5, I am guessing this is our 2024 schedule. Confirmed 8/31 - North Dakota 9/7 - at Iowa 9/14 - Arkansas State Conference Home Games - Oklahoma, Cincy, Kansas State, Houston, UCF Conference Away...

Not reported, I heard that from someone who would know

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I've not seen that. Originally it was 5 protected teams, 4 of the other 8 in 2023, and then the other 4 in 2024. That gave everyone one last shot at OUT and protected the most important games. Games like Tech/OSU I can't imagine not playing for 2 years.

Texas & Oklahoma leaving in 2024, period.

Kinda. So they both owe an exit fee of 2 years worth of Conference money distributions. Which is $40 million a piece for a single year. The Big 12 simply won’t give them that money. The second payment would’ve been if they left the league early and broke the GOR. That won’t happen now since...

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I ******* knew it! OUT doesn’t have that much cash just sitting around. Now I really, really wanna know our protected games for 2024. KU, KSU, and Cincy feel like locks. Maybe OU and OSU? Especially with all 5 Texas schools playing each other. I’d be fine with not making a trip to Austin again

In basketball? That thing is never stopping even if football does end. Football is through 2027 though. With spots dedicated to it continuing as the second game of the season after that

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I would love it too, but I just don’t see a way. 22 conference games 3 holiday tournaments games Iowa Big East Challenge Presumably Big 10 challenge That leaves 4-5 games for cupcakes. If you could get ESPN/Fox to pay for it, I’d do it. Don’t do it for free though

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Clearly. Making the tourney means you're in the top 19% of college basketball. That seems relevant to me.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

That's a little harsh. Cincy has made the tourney 9 times since 2010. BYU has 6 tourney appearances since 2010. Cincy is a middle of the pack team in the Big 12 moving forward. BYU is likely behind them but not some scrub.

    Kenpom conference rank since 2013 (TCU & WVU joined) 2013 - 3rd 2014 - 1st 2015 - 1st 2016 - 1st 2017 - 1st (only 2004 ACC was ever better) 2018 - 1st 2019 - 1st 2020 - 2nd 2021 - 2nd 2022 - 1st 2023 - 1st It’s always been this tough.

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I agree, but the odds of a 22 game conference schedule are about 0%

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

No different than TCU in 2013 and they adjusted eventuality. It’s just gonna take time, money, and a commitment to winning. Rising tide raises all boats type of situation

    Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

You can do 13 teams with an 18 game schedule mathematically. I still don’t think they add them though. They don’t bring enough value

Big 12/SEC Challenge comes to an end. Thank god.

Absolute no to a PAC 10 challenge. That league is trash in basketball. Let them have their SWAC challenge that they lose

Big 12/SEC Challenge comes to an end. Thank god.

The whole thing is really an excuse so that Kansas/Kentucky can play on a Saturday night in late January for ESPN ratings. That’s really all it’s been. The ACC/SEC next year will be Duke/UNC/Kentucky playing every year
