When do you think you will buy a 100% pure electric vehicle?

It sure helps. Ultimately it depends on the net elevation change. If you climb a 10 mile, 6% grade at 45mph it might cost you about 20% of your charge. But if you get a similar coast down on the backside, can regen the whole time, and didn't charge up somewhere near the peak, you can recover up...

Overall visibility is WAY better, especially when you factor in the short hood. You can fit about 2 Mazda Miatas in the blind spot of a Kenworth W900. Esthetically it's a different discussion but functionally it's better.

When do you think you will buy a 100% pure electric vehicle?

You are right, and it is a concern. That said, most semis are licensed for 80k but actually carry much less. They tend to be volume constrained rather than weight constrained. The standard 53' trailer can only hold so many cubic feet whether it's bowling balls or feathers. Electric semis are...

When do you think you will buy a 100% pure electric vehicle?

Semis can gross anywhere from 80,000 to 120,000 lbs depending on the state. They are WAY harder on the roads than any regular passenger car.

    Car Issue

A lot of cars that have stop/start for fuel economy use a small auxiliary battery to power the car when the engine shuts off and there is no power from the alternator. Reduces wear-and-tear on the main battery.

    Car Issue

OEMs don't make any money off service/maintenance. That all goes to the dealership. And dealerships are still independent. BUT, they recognize that people who do their own maintenance are a dying breed - those who have the time, tools and knowledge/patience to deal with it. So they assume that...

    Candy Bar Hot Takes

One of the best candy bars I've ever had was a plain Snickers but in Germany. So much better. I can only assume it's because if their food regulations. Snickers also makes a high protein version in the EU that is a legit protein bar. It looks like you might be able to find them in the US now...

    Candy Bar Hot Takes

Disagree. I eat these "regularly" as a somewhat keto-friendly sweet. They are good, but not as good as other items mentioned here. I love dark chocolate but I'm not a big fan of the big pieces of salt. The combination of chocolate and peanut butter is one of the best things on the planet.

    "Civil War" trailer

I know we're WAY off topic now but... if a collection of Appalachian militias could take over the US by blowing up some bridges and waiting, why is it different for Hamas vs Israel et al?

    MOVIE: Leave The World Behind

I liked this and the MCU. Both are plot driven rather than character driven.

    MOVIE: Leave The World Behind

Just watched it (credits are still rolling) and overall I liked it. Not amazing, but it was entertaining and I don't feel like I wasted 2 hours. The only thing that really put me off was the scene with the deer at the shed. ETA: I didn't find myself caring about the characters so much, but I...

    "Civil War" trailer

Whichever side gets the support of the American military will win. They'll also get the military's translog knowledge and weaponry. They regularly operate in those types of environments. Otherwise groups like Hamas, ISIS, PLA, etc would be regularly toppling governments. Also depends on whether...

They aren't pointless nags, as indicated by the crashes caused by people not paying enough attention with the feature engaged. And partly due to Musk's own "wink wink we can't call it self driving but it's self driving" attitude.

When do you think you will buy a 100% pure electric vehicle?

In automotive world, a recall is a government mandated fix due to a safety issue. This could also happen for emissions controls. A voluntary fix to improved quality or features is called a campaign. For three years I worked as a field data analyst in the heavy truck industry, investigating...

    Who's On Pollard's Short List?

Why not Heacock? Do you think he's old enough he'd be content to stay on as DC (I dont know how old he is)? I think Heacock is more important to our overall success.

    Who's On Pollard's Short List?

That sheet doesn't have the actual scores, but the scores essentially say that PSU would be about a 2pt favorite on a neutral field against Bama. So not much difference. And to be clear, the two teams that "dogwalked" PSU were the number 1 and 3 teams in the country. PSU's post game win...
