    Strategies to reduce snow drifts?

Fill 5-gallon buckets with snow and dump them in your bathtub. Should only take about 25,987 trips to clear the snow.

    Mediacom and Sinclair Settle

If Mediacom were smart they'd negotiate a 6-month extension. Maybe except for the occasional baseball game, no one would care if we couldn't watch KDSM from June to August.

10 things not to buy in 2010

Newspaper subscriptions - I still subscribe to the Register, and probably will until they stop printing. I'd rather read a story in print than read one online or watch a video about it. As bad as the Register has gotten, they still cover local news better than anyone else; that coverage will...

    Boise State Cowbell Girl

Absolutely. The BSU band was the embodiment of every awful marching band stereotype. As a former band person, I feel it's my duty to mock their awfulness.

    College Savings Iowa

We've been using College Savings Iowa with Upromise for our kids for a few years now. We have no complaints, except for the lousy rate of return.

Best way to keep pipes from freezing?

Dumping antifreeze down the drain sounds like a very bad idea. I doubt the city would approve of someone pouring toxic chemicals into the sewer system (or it's probably bad for your septic system if you've got one).

Favorite cartoon to watch as a kid?

The Mysterious Cities of Gold? That was an awesome cartoon, and it was a serial with like 40 episodes so it was almost impossible to watch them all. I'll throw in a vote for Ghostbusters (the real ones, not those posers in syndication). I loved watching Ghostbusters on Saturday morning while...

Official "omg, i'm back from tempe and its ******* freezing here!" Thread

I call BS on the dry heat. There's so much water pumped into the Phoenix area now (like that river they filled in) that the air is plenty humid. I've been to Phoenix in August, and it's not Iowa humid, but there's enough moisture in the air to make it even more uncomfortable.

    what happens when...

Wouldn't it be a new set of downs? 1st & 10 from the 20 (or wherever) since it's a change of possession?

    what happens when...

That's my guess. That's probably why college players are taught to just go down if they get a turnover in OT. I think that would just be the end of B's possession.

and the BcS gets its wish

I don't think switching opponents would answer any questions. BSU already beat Oregon convincingly this year, and I'd expect them to do the same against Iowa or Ga Tech. I'd expect TCU to beat both of those teams easily too. It's too bad one of them didn't get a shot against Florida at least.

    Cheap Computer Cables

What is a good place to buy computer cables? I know the cables you could buy at places like Best Buy are badly overpriced, but I'm not sure which websites are cheap and trustworthy.

    MLB: Cubs sign Marlon Byrd

Byrd's contract is a backloaded 3yr/$15M deal. He'll be paid $3M, $5.5M, and $6.5M. That third year could be ugly considering he'll be 36-years-old by the end of it.

    MLB: Cubs sign Marlon Byrd

That's the thing I hate about this deal. In 2010, Byrd will be an asset. In 2012, he'll be yet another contractual dead weight.
