Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

The internet really needs a sarcasm font.... but if you're serious you really need to check in to 700 East University Ave.

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

In sports, it's not about how much talent a team has. It's about how the coach can get the most out of the talent they have. Individually, Iowa State has some positions where they are equal or possibly better than Iowa. But it is the sum of the parts that gets the job done.

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

Just in case you haven't noticed, in the Ferentz era the Iowa vs Iowa St rivalry is sitting at 9-8 in Iowa State's favor. I wouldn't call that kind of record "emphasizing the game". And Iowa hasn't just played better defense against Iowa State. Pretty much every game this year they have shut...

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

So pointing out illogical thinking and posting facts makes me deserving of terminal cancer? OK. I had a leg amputation this summer, is that close enough to your wish of terminal cancer?

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

Right. Because every team in the nation gets together in mid-August and looks at all the teams out there and then makes their schedule for the year. Look, Iowa has no control over who they play in the Big 10. That schedule is set years in advance. They schedule their non-conference opponents...

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

Not singling you out, but the bolded part is why Iowa State will not be competitive. You mention skill positions on offense, as most do here. No offensive linemen mentioned, no defense mentioned at all. A good offensive line will make an average quarterback look like a Heisman candidate, an...

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

If you mean that Iowa State scoring all it's points in the first half and having only 66 total yards and no points in the second half, then yes... Iowa just barely got by. If you look at it rationally, however, you will see that Iowa won the game in the trenches. It was smash mouth football and...

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

I sure hope you didn't get a diploma from ISU. Minnesota lost to TCU 23-17, and the last time I checked my calculator 23-17 is 6.

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

So by your logic, TCU would be below Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, and be comparable to Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. After all, in TCU's game this year against Minnesota they won by only 6 and Minnesota is 4-3 (2-1 in the Big 10).

Iowa State would compete in Big Ten

Really? And Iowa State had how many yards against Iowa on the ground? (That would be 62) Iowa State is averaging 170.2 yards per game rushing. You're saying that Iowa State couldn't move the ball on the ground that one game is just an illusion?

Number of wins vs MAC teams since 2000. Iowa - 10 Iowa State - 6 (includes one bowl win) Continue trolling.

    Big Ten

Yeah, right. The #20 ranked team in the nation (or #21 depending upon which poll you look at) "isn't very good". In the '80s they weren't very good; in the past decade they've been competitive and the teams they've had without injury have done quite well.

    Big Ten

No. What that means is that Iowa treats the ISU game as it should: a non-conference game to get you ready to play the conference season. ISU usually plays the game with more intensity and emotion because they believe it is one of the few wins they will get.

    Big Ten

Take away ISU's starting tackles and their best wide-out. Do you think Sam would take an absolute beating from a team with a decent defense? It's like Hubie Brown's quote when he was coaching the injury-riddled Knicks "People say we don't have any bench - WE'RE PLAYING IT!" And since when is a...

    Big Ten

Yes, he did escape the safety. And what happened after that? A great play like a near-safety should really fire up the ISU defense. Instead, Iowa grinds it out, goes the length of the field and scores a touchdown. You could say that Iowa left points on the board by going for a fake field goal...

    Big Ten

Northwestern is going to be a tough win. When you're missing both starting tackles, starting running back, starting wide receiver, starting tight end and a pre-season all-conference pick at defensive end, it's pretty tough to win on the road. Doesn't matter what conference you play in.

    Big Ten

Big 10 may or may not be "boring" but you can't argue with last year's conference results. Football 2014: Big 10 goes 6-5 in bowl games, and conference champ wins the national championship. Big 12 goes 2-5 in bowl games, and conference champ wins the Peach Bowl. Only one head-to-head matchup...

    Big Ten

You're joking, right? Total Yards: Iowa 475, ISU 310. Rushing yards: Iowa 260, ISU 63. Interceptions: Iowa 1, ISU 0. Punt return yards: Iowa 34, ISU 0. Daniels, the starting running back, had 56 rushing yards in the first quarter before injury; who knows how much more Iowa would have had...
