Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

It is totally about trust. Any hire at the University has a potential to cause your storm. You wouldn't expect the President to interview everybody hired. Again, we aren't going to change each other's mind, it is best we just drop it.

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

Of course they don't have to agree. But again, it comes down to trust. If you don't trust the person that you have in the position, why the heck are they there?

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

Search is right there in my response. A person doing their job would conduct a true search. I didn't think that needed to be spelled out. Pollard is a professional. Again, if the President doesn't think Pollard is doing his job, or doing his job properly, she should find a person that she does...

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

I guess I was still considering what triggered this discussion and what the original poster was advocating. If Pollard does a search and TJ is the best candidate he can find, that should be the end of it. If the President does not feel that Pollard is making sound decisions, he should be let go.

I don't have a problem asking the questions. If the AD provides a sound answer and the President still wants to get involved, the President should be looking for a new AD.

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

We'll have to agree to disagree. I don't believe the President of the University should have time to know the pulse of the current atmosphere in college athletic salaries. As long as Jamie is doing his job growing his budget and also staying within that budget, he can be totally responsible...

That is the way it should be. You are paying the AD too much money to second guess every hire.

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

I have no problem with TJ being a candidate. I would have him a ways down the list, is all. I would hope the ISU job is still attractive enough to pull one of the candidates that I view more favorably.

You are wrong if you don't believe UNLV has some inherent advantages versus other schools in that league.

    Coaching Search: Place your bets

To me it is about the fact that Hoiberg accomplished the rebuild at ISU once already. That doesn't mean he can do it again, but that is something no other candidate can bring to the table. Any of the candidates that have been mentioned could flame out, even Hoiberg. As long as the cost doesn't...

Steve Prohm says he'll meet with Jamie Pollard to discuss his future next week...

Prohm never had as bad a year as TJ is having this year at UNLV while at Murray St. I would say TJ had more success when he was at SDSU. If you give TJ the nod it sure isn't a slam dunk. Why would you throw all of your support to someone that has a resume not much better than Prohm?

Crystal balls and all. I've seen your snarky reply about Coach K about five different times. You need new material.

So that is your standard, better than Prohm. I would guess that qualifies a lot of candidates.

I would hope Gates, Medved and Hoiberg are at the top of the list. I would understand not being able to afford Fred, but if the other two are interested, they seem to clearly stand out to me.

Column about Hoiberg in the Lincoln Journal Star

Again, this is a discussion about Fred and that is what my comments were regarding. No matter what position Fred put Steve in back in 2016, the current state of the program is 100% on Steve.

Column about Hoiberg in the Lincoln Journal Star

I am not sure where you got sabotage out of my message. It was pretty clear that Fred had checked out on recruiting that last class and the change was made very late. How would you rank Prohm's classes while at ISU? Was his first class anywhere near his best?

Column about Hoiberg in the Lincoln Journal Star

Hyperbole much? Fab 5? The article is about Fred, not Steve, and we are talking about his time at ISU. Yes, this happens when turnover occurs, but it would have been helpful if there were players actually worth trying to talk into staying in the recruiting class. The late timing of the change...

Column about Hoiberg in the Lincoln Journal Star

Yes, Fred left a stacked roster of upperclassmen. He also left a non-existent recruiting class coming in, and with his late departure, left the new staff scrambling to establish relationships with recruits for the following year. Those relationships don't form overnight. In effect, there was a...
