    John Deere strike imminent?

Looks like ripvdub in a subsequent post nails it pretty well on dues calculation. I don’t think any of my posts have tried to paint a picture of the UAW as some heroic organization selflessly representing the poor downtrodden worker. I simply have A lot of experience in manufacturing as well as...

    John Deere strike imminent?

 I loved giving my friends from Waterloo and Dubuque crap about that. It’s just automatic for them.

    John Deere strike imminent?

Those Waterloo guys always have thought they were a cut above the other places because they made tractors. I would put up Sprayer market share and profitability against most product line around the chain. One more thing: Waterloo and Dubuque guys all say they work at “Deere’s“. The rest of us...

    John Deere strike imminent?

I can see by your use of a % that you really don’t know what the dues rates are and you had to rely on projecting out some random figures from a google search in your UAW bashing. A point of information though: Part of all dues goes into the UAW Strike Fund. While these guys are on strike they...

Tell me what their monthly dues are.

    John Deere strike imminent?

Not saying it is strictly a union issue. Just saying the UAW is sticking with what they know, representation and contract negotiations, and leaving benefit administration to people whose area of expertise is in that field.

    John Deere strike imminent?

I think the bigger reason the UAW doesn’t administer benefit is the the Companies that they represent already have benefits for other employee groups so it’s easier to have UAW group benefits go through the various Company administrators instead of creating a whole new department to do it...

    John Deere strike imminent?

Ya Sorry to tell you but that is the exact same write up the Company would use if it was a near miss report involving a wage employee.

    John Deere strike imminent?

Somehow that salaried employee must not have been required to get certified on Operating Power Vehicles inside the factory. Must have been an over site!

    John Deere strike imminent?

Des Moines Works has a large amount of manual arc welding. Some weld cells such as Sprayer Mainframes utilize a robot welding some mainframe components with the manual guys putting all together and completing manually. Manual Arc Weld is one of the largest classifications in the factory.

    John Deere strike imminent?

Probably wouldn’t work very well. They would have to work 10-12 hr shifts and no 3 hour breaks to sit at Coop or Casey’s and BS about how tough things are.

    John Deere strike imminent?

The way Deere does business today is that a machine will not be scheduled for production without the order and financing already in place. Cotton harvesters are $1 million or more and Sprayers are probably $300,000 to $500,000 plus. You don’t build that price of machine on speculation hoping...

    AMEN!!

    John Deere strike imminent?

Deere has historically assigned put office or salaried employees out in the shop to “work” during a labor dispute. The reality is it is pretty much to have those folks doing something. Without the wage workforce being there most salaried support would have little to do.

    John Deere strike imminent?

Deere is the majority owner of Hagie, but Hagie workers are not organized or represented by the UAW. I’m sure it is business as usual for them today and going forward.

    John Deere strike imminent?

A wildcat refers to a strike or walkout when it occurs without International Union approval or sanction. That is why you will not see individual locals or individuals just act on their own. Individuals or groups that think they can go that route will find they are on their own in any discipline...

    John Deere strike imminent?

The UAW bargaining committees is basically required to at least bring back a tentative for the members to vote either up or down. Also, I don’t know what your definition of a wildcat is but that’s not it.

Darryl from New Shannon on KXNO shows

Waterloo and Dubuque are both communities that use the term Deere’s when saying anything about John Deere. If you hear that term in a bar you can probably win a beer on betting you know where that person is from. They have no idea the rest of the world is using the name Deere.

Anyone having a suggestion for walleye fishing in Iowa or MN?

My boys went on a guys trip to Kabetogama about 5 years ago. They stayed at Sandy Point Lodge and really liked it. Just going off the time they had and we have talked about doing a fall trip there sometime but just haven’t made it happen yet.

Random Thoughts the 13th: Jason Takes RTT

Sounds as though you have it figured out. I used to work with benefits several years ago and it was usually common practice for city or some ambulance services to not file to insurance and expect that to be done by the patient. Most people didn’t realize they were supposed to do that, as you...
