    Re: The best way to get local HDTV is with rabbit ears. And it's free! nm Directv and Dish will give you the HD box for free. Dish also has about 20 more channels in HD than direct does for the same price, which is why i chose dish.

    It's not broadcast in HD all the time, just like Mediacom or directv, but they do allow you to get locals in HD when they are broadcast in HD without the antenna. Whereas you have to have the antenna with Direct.

    I just switched to Dish a couple of days ago, chose them over Direct because they have about 20 more HD channels in their lineup and they don't require you to purchase the HD antenna in order to be able to get your locals in HD. Their system is strong enough for you to get the locals in HD...
