    Hot milk for breakfast

Re: Into Kabul The "Red Bull" from your avatar brings back old memories. I remember the "old" "Viking helmets" (we had another name for them back then ;-). I also remember when the transition from the M-16 A1 to the A2 was a big deal. I've never seen an M-4 up close, but I am hoping that it is...

    Hot milk for breakfast

Re: Into Kabul Wow! Quite the contrast in pics, from the "guy next door that you drink beer with" (former avatar with the flannel shirt) to the guy that you are afraid to drink beer with. Glad to see that the "military" world has upgraded their equipment. The tactical vest rocks! Sure...

    M/WBB Posters now available ...

I stopped by the Jacobson Building last night after work and picked up some basketball posters for the upcoming season. For those attending the game today, the posters should be available just inside the East and West entrances of the Jacobson Building. I don't have any images to post, sorry. My...

Thread on Hawk Boards about new unis

Little Boy: "What are you doing Gene Chizik?" Gene Chizik: "Pwning noobs." I might be showing my age here, but what does "Pwning noobs" mean? I ask, because I am guessing that the picture of Chizik playing video games will be funnier if I understand the caption. Just a guess.

    Graduation

I had a friend that worked for EAI/UGS/EDI/etc ... He jokes that he worked for 5 different companies without ever changing (work) phone numbers.

How much do you spend on a sick pet?

I agree. While it is an admirable idea, and I do support adopting from a shelter, pets, especially indoor pets, become one of the family after a while. My parents/family have spent a lot of money over the years for the quality of life of their pets. One dog and two cats are buried out in my...

How much do you spend on a sick pet?

We "iguana sat" for a friend of the ex's when I was in the Army. Her friend actually had a walking harness leash thingy for his iguana. I was "walking" it one night out in the yard while some passersby were out with their (massive sized) dog, who was not on a leash. The dog went for the iguana...

Top Songs You're Listening To Right Now

Awesome! I bet that would be a great drinking song for Packers fans (yes I am one). I'll find out in about an hour -- it's 5 o'clock somewhere -- and report back. Or not.

Why do Iowa Fans Hate Jamie Pollard so much?

I'm not so sure about that. A co-worker of mine left the Ames/Des Moines area for the Twin Cities in the early 80s. When he and his family moved back to Ames 5-6 years ago (pre-Pollard), he noticed a complete difference in attitudes. In his words, it went from a "friendly" rivalry to a much less...

Why do Iowa Fans Hate Jamie Pollard so much?

In my section in the end zone, there were plenty of Iowa fans. The hot four-some (female and too young for me) Iowa fans sitting behind me were mad that Iowa hadn't put the game away by half-time and went out to "tail-gate" their anger away. I found it amusing that there was a traumatized...

    Iowa City

I visit Iowa City on occasion. Seems like a nice enough place. If there is a knock against Iowa City, in my humble opinion, it's (some of) the "fans". But I digress. I guess it's just silly of me to assume that I should be able to drive my car with ISU license plates somewhere and not get...

    AVG 8.0 Free Editon

I've been using AVG's free version for 3 months now, and, knock on "particle board", er, wood, (nerdy joke, sorry ), I have not had any problems. Then again, I don't surf questionable sites or open questionable e-mail attachments. Wait, is CF a "questionable" web site?

    OT: Scariest movie ever

The alternate ending to that was pretty intense as well. The scene where one of the infected opens his mouth in kind of a scream/growl next to Will Smith's ear in some of the trailers didn't make it into the theatrical version, but it's on the alternate version of the movie.

Tim Floyd Interviewed on Channel 5

I've never met Floyd but he seems like a class act and I am happy that he coached at ISU even if it was a "brief" tenure. I remember reading all of the rumors of Floyd going to the Bulls and lost some respect for Jordan for not giving Floyd a chance. Referring to the new coach as "Pink" by the...

    Movies to see this weekend

A buddy and I are going to see "Iron Man" tonight. I've heard nothing but great things about it. We are also going to see "Doomsday" in the "dollar theater" (at the mall in Ames) this weekend. Live for the weekends!

    2008 Football poster images ...

I apologize for the quality (or lack there of) of the images, but I thought I'd share some pics of the football poster for 2008. It will be officially unveiled, I believe, at the autograph signing tomorrow morning and the spring game at Noon tomorrow. Being the nerd that I am, I stopped by the...
