ABC 5: Hoiberg - Done Deal

Wow! The Mayor prowling Hilton next season! I have goosebumps! I won't lie, a day ago I was a little concerned about the lack of college coaching experience when Fred's name came up, but it took all of a very split second for me to jump on board enthusiastically! Love the hire! Will be renewing...

    Lost Cat in Ames

A handful of years ago a friend of mine's cat got outside and was missing for a number of days. At some point, he left his garage door open a little bit and set some food and water out on the garage floor. For several days he noticed the food being eaten, but could not tell if it was his cat or...

Wow! That is an amazing picture. The closest I ever got to seeing the night sky like that was out in California at the NTC (National Training Center -- Fort Irwin) in a January of years ago. Beautiful, but can't touch "that" sky. Thanks for posting the photo!

    Hot milk for breakfast

Hilarious! I did a double take when I first saw the picture. "Why is someone posting a picture of an ugly couch ... " :biglaugh: Edit: Ugly to me, but then I have no fashion sense and an "ISU" tailgating blanket over my chair. :-)

I have to be honest, being, apparently naive, I would have assumed that some, a lot, of the rest of the world would rejoice in our (America's) economy struggling. The whole "evil empire" thing that I have seen on the news, at times. That said, live today, and hope for tomorrow.

Re: Last bunch of pics Thanks for the reply! It is interesting that there are American vehicles in use in Afghanistan. I guess I didn't know what to expect. I owned a 4X4 Ranger up until a few years ago. Not nearly as cool as the one in the picture! I am curious by nature, and kind of...

Re: Last bunch of pics What kind of vehicle is that second picture? As in, make and model? Looks pretty cool! Is that an F-150 that you are standing next to in the first picture?

Re: Now that I've had some sleep: Thanks for posting the pics. Amazing shots. I'm not sure that I had ever seen a picture of a "poppy" plant before. Looks like a weed. How bored would the "inventor" have to be to try smoking a weed looking thing ... The pictures really put things into...

    Hot milk for breakfast

Glad to hear that I wasn't the only one who liked the dehydrated fruit "things". I used to get quite a "deal" trading the "oatmeal" block thingy for (bunches of) fruit packages!

    Hot milk for breakfast

First, thank you for the posts. Very interesting to read! I have to ask, do the MREs still have the dehydrated fruit "block"? I loved those things (dry)! Apparently I was one of very few ... God speed!

    Steamy Pollard Blog

Wow, things must be very dull in IC right now to have so many Iowa fan posts in ONE thread on an ISU message board. Still, "they" occasionally raise some interesting points. Occasionally. (skimmed the blog, one thing stood out) "10. He has convinced ISU fans that women's athletics are...

    I was just called by...

A very nervous young lady called me one night and "chatted" about this and that for 15 - 20 minutes (I swear!) before the sales pitch came for a fundraiser for the band traveling with the football team. Ok, sounds like a good cause I thought to myself. Until the $2500 donation was asked for, at...

    MLB: Schilling Cubs 5th starter?

Schilling said that money wasn't an issue and it certainly couldn't hurt to have his postseason big game experience on board. Maybe as a "6th" (part-time) starter until we see how his shoulder holds up. The part-time starter role might be a better fit for a 40 something year old coming off of...

Texans To Trade Sage To Vikings.

Boooooooooo .... As a Cyclone fan, I'd be happy to see Sage get a chance to start for a <coughs> "good" team. However, as a Packers fan (and anti-minnesota in general), there are at least two games a year that I'd be rooting against him. I'd be okay if as mentioned by another poster, he had...

Game Day Thread vs. Kansas State

Seriously? 50-46 was the final score? Really? I've never been a fan of the "defense wins championships" thing, in football or otherwise, but I understand why it works. I've always preferred the "shootouts". Though, I suppose if you don't have the ability to score a lot, the "fun-n-gun"...

    Woman's Game

Woah! :wideeyed: That rules me out for the single game loss of credits at CF. However, I probably own the record for most credits lost on a WBB game. Hindsight not withstanding, on any given day, I would still do the same, as on any other day, we win that game this afternoon (IMHO).

Re: Into Kabul I had forgotten about the "PR(I)C(K)-77s". A scene from "We Were Soldiers" (based on Vietnam) using the "same" equipment that we used, early on when I wore a uniform, decades later, is kind of disturbing. :wideeyed:
