Every fan base has bad eggs. Unfortunately rivalry games seem to bring out the worst in the bad eggs. Would you root for Iowa in a national championship game?
Yes but then I am a hawk fan. :cool: Would I root for ISU in the NC? I have to be honest and say I would be torn. I actually pull for you guys when we are not playing each other. That being said the thought of you guys having a NC in football before we do is a bit painful to contemplate...- Tobias

this Iowa team is VERY good
I am cautiously optomistic about our O-line. I still have concerns but they don't appear to be a weak spot like everyone worried initially. We just have a really good squad this year. I think the game will be much more competative next year back in Ames. -

Hawk fans and ISU situation
Personally I don't want to see you guys go down in flames because it will be bad for the state. Plus no matter what happens we will likely keep playing you and I would rather have the game be competitive.- Tobias

Re: Honest question... If Nebraska and Missouri both end up in our conference ISU will find itself surrounded by CIC schools with far more funding. It will start hurting them for top students and faculty. This is bad for the state not just ISU. -

I can't speak for Jon in terms of incentive but as a Hawkeye fan I am a even bigger fan of the state of Iowa and this could be bad for the state. To a lesser extent as one of our bitter rivals I have a grudging respect / love - hate thing going with you guys and I don't want to see that ruined...- Tobias

This is probably a stretch, but we can hope can't we?
It will depend on how much they value TV sets compared to academics. ISU is a much better choice in terms of CIC membership than Rutgers for instance but ISU does not bring the network the TV foot print they want. Personally I would much rather have you guys.- Tobias

The CIC and UNL/Mizz
Iowa does not have much if any pull in the big ten but it would be in the best interest for the state as a whole if they tried to help ISU get in as a CIC member. ISU is a better fit in that way than the hucksters. I don't know what will happen but as an Iowa alum I would pull for it and join...- Tobias

Unfortunately just like the media a lot of people are looking at this as a sports only issue and it is not by a long shot. ISU could be hurt academically by this which is bad for the state of Iowa. Some of my Hawkeye brethren are being short sighted in their snickering at the ISU athletics... -

As an Iowa fan I would rather have you guys in the conference than Nebraska. I dislike ISU but despise Nebraska. Every time I see Osbourne I think of Lawrence Phillips. If the Big12 falling apart is bad for ISU it is bad for the state of Iowa so screw the huskers. -

Did ISU not get an Athlon cover?
This never makes sense to me coming from either side. We should be concerned with each other we are in state rivals that fight over the same recruits. How boring would it be if neither side cared? -

Not good news obviously but I don't see this crippling your line unless depth is a big issue this year and it sounds like it is not. It might cause more problems down the line as the season progresses and injuries pop up though. I still think it will be a good battle between your O-Line and... -
