    Tyrone Appleton MBB Recruiting Note

I wonder why KU is having to go the JUCO route? With all their tradition and gravitas, you'd think they would just go for the top high school kids.

Great article on Rahshon in todays DMR

Rahshon is definitely one of the all-time ISU greats in my book. He is a great ambassador for ISU Basketball and a great roll model for kids. I'm really glad he's having a solid year. It's going to be emotional when he plays his last home game.

Eikmeier scores 28 on Saturday Night

I don't read it as hype--it's just someone who's excited about an incoming recruit, keeping us posted on how that recruit is doing. I agree, however, that it would not be wise to get too excited about a guy based merely on his numbers against relatively weak, small-school competition. Guys who...

    Been 24-48 hours....

I'm reminded of the old saying: A watched boil never pops. Or something like that.

    Ricky Morgan or Tony Rampton?

I think that those thrashing current players have gotten quite their share of grief, as well.

    Ricky Morgan or Tony Rampton?

He was from New Zealand, mate.

    Reality check

    I think there's a lot of parity in the bottom 100, though.

    Reality check

Yes, it would be really nice to have at least one quality win before entering the Big XII season. But at least we're beating the bottom 100 teams better than we were earlier in the year. That's some kind of progress.

Anyone have video of Brackins's dunk?

I'll say this about McDermott, he sure uses his in-bounds plays effectively. I don't know for sure what the percentage is, but it seems like we score off of in-bounds plays (or at least get a good shot) most of the time.

    Nice win (spoiler alert)

He seemed fairly active and had decent mobility from what I could tell on the TV, but his timing seemed to be way off. His shot was way off, too, obviously. I hope it doesn't take him as long to get back to form as it did for Jiri.

    Nice win (spoiler alert)

For some reason, bench play was really off tonight. It was good to see Jiri have a good (dominating, amazing) game against short people.

    Anyone hear GMac?

Yeah, you probably can't infer too much from the length of deliberation, other than it was an open-and-shut case, or not.

    Anyone hear GMac?

Supposedly, in jury trials, a quick verdict usually comes back innocent. Let's hope this holds true for NCAA appeals hearings, as well.

    Tonight's game

On his post-game show the other night, McDermott said that they were better than their record indicated (standard fare for any coach to say) and that their record is deceptive because they've played a lot of road games against really tough teams (Purdue, Kentucky). Since I predicted we'd have a...

A lot of good things yesterday

You are a piece of work. Actually, by your standards, I don't think we have any players on our team. We won't until we have the #1 through #5 best players in the country. And until then, we'll have to suffer through your derogatory, negative posts about our current players.

A lot of good things yesterday

I'm sorry that you "tire" of fans getting excited about players "showing a glimmer of hope". That is a really sad statement about you. With respect to CJ, I believe you are flat out wrong. He already is a "a legitimate contributor to a Big 12 caliber team." He doesn't have the natural...

    PG Question?

I'm not worried about his shot. It will start falling. He's only played about 3 hours total of D-I basketball, 1/3rd of the way through his first season. He'll be fine. He's also hit some really nice drives. He can hit the running bank shot from around 8 feet pretty well, which is really...
