Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Pretty solid comp....both had a high profile QB at one point that made them relevant for a couple years, but nobody can actually remember what else their program has done in the last 30 years to garner the prestige they think they have.

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Agreed, and I'm excited for it.....put them on in primetime against Alabama, OU, and Georgia every year. Eventually the entire country will know them as that team that always gets crushed. They can go 7-5 in perpetuity, switch coaches every three years, and eventually everyone in the SEC will...

    Quinn Ewers transfers to Texas

Or for Saban to go to Bryce Young and ask him if it's ok to pull his scholly to help the team.

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Agreed...same with Ohio State and Clemson. What would a realistic scenario be that would take any of those three out of the conversation? 8-4, with a couple losses to .500 teams...maybe?

Friday OT #1 - Rubbing Pennies

If you grew up on a farm, seeing a 5 gallon bucket or intact tarp strap on a road or in the ditch was justification for nearly causing an accident in an attempt to retrieve.

Perryman Group Economic Report on Big 12

Ok. It's also the correct answer to the question you asked.

...........I'm sorry, what were we talking about?

Can the Big 12 remain viable

No ****....simply saying that you can only cut so much and remain D1.

Can the Big 12 remain viable

The only way is to remain in a power conference....if this ends up with us in the AAC or in a Big 12 with Houston and Cincy, we should be very happy for him when he gets hired by Penn State and thank him for the incredible job he did while in Ames.

Can the Big 12 remain viable

NCAA has requirements on the number of sports offered to remain at the division 1 level (7 for men and women, or 6 for men and 8 women).....not that the NCAA will have any say in anything in a few years. Indoor and outdoor track and field are counted separately, so we could cut one men's team...

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

"...to become members in 2025...": had to be said for current legal purposes.

Wendy Wintersteen & Jamie Pollard Address the Fans

If the remaining 8 schools are truly unified, this is brilliant....they can negotiate from a position of power, because for the next 4 years they legally hold the power if they stay together. The only way Texas and OU gain power back is if they wait out the entire deal, something they obviously...

Can the Big 12 remain viable

Maybe.....but not in football. What ultimately gets done isn't really up to Iowa State or really any school left....it's up to the Pac 12 and Big 10. I don't mind the huge expansion idea to attempt to keep some amount of relevancy (particularly as a basketball league), but from a football...

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Agreed.....it'll stop when the programs with the most influence are happy with the share of the money they are getting and who they are sharing it with.

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Because every talking head will say "but look at who they lost to: Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and LSU...." without paying attention to who they actually beat, like they do every year to justify whatever they want to happen. They justified Ohio State last year when they played what, 6 games?

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Honestly....good riddance. This move isn't magically removing the dysfunction at Texas, and I would guess that Lincoln Riley has a big decision coming up regarding an NFL move while his stock is high. Certainly feel fortunate to have the AD and head coaches in the major sports to lead us...

Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Only way the Big 12 survives is if the other conferences choose not to expand.....if that's the case, go add some schools and stay together until 2025 simply to make OU and Texas honor the media rights agreement.
