Big 12 on the outside looking in
SEC still has to beat up on each other quite a bit this season. If TCU or K State can win out, I still think they'll end up making it. Ole Miss beats Auburn, Auburn beats Bama, and Miss St beats Ole Miss. I would like a Miss St, Florida St, Oregon, TCU playoff... It's possible.- QCCyclone

Mythical 16-team playoff
Considering the amount of 2 vs 15 seed upsets in the last few years, I definitely wouldn't call that first (or second, whatever) round a bye. It's MUCH easier for a basketball team to cause a huge upset on any given night. I'm split on the idea of non power 5 conferences getting an automatic... -

How does something like MI and TX football floundering happen?
Agree with this. Just like some programs are one great hire from becoming a power (K State and Snyder), others are just a couple bad decisions away from failing. PS - Please don't twist this into a "fire Rhoads" post.- QCCyclone

Regardless of which team is better, I don't think anybody can blame Ames for not wanting to travel to East. The alternatives offered were generous and fair, all things considered. Sounds like the DSM Superintendent screwed himself on this one -

I can't believe most responses in here. Oklahoma State isn't that bad, they're just not that good. Michigan is bad... OK St beats them by double digits. -

Apparently they're pretty cocky on their fan forums, but we have plenty of that too. Every K State fan I've met has been awesome. Their school is quite similar to ours in a variety of ways. -

My visit to the ASU/Stanford football game
I've tailgated at several college stadiums (SEC included), and nothing has come close to an Iowa State tailgate. I'm sure there are other schools that have similar setups, and of course I'm biased, but those little spread-out lots just don't give the same feeling as several huge lots right next... -

No, those that want him fired this year are blind if they really can't see the progress this team is making. Lots of good talent will be back next year and they clearly want to win for Rhoads. -
