    Original question was for a day away from the home. Not 5 days. At 5 days I switch the fan from auto to on and turn the AC off.

    I'd agree with that if both apples (the small apple to the big apple) have the same SEER rating AC and same options (variable speed motors and such). If one apple has a 15 year old unit while the other apple has a 2 year old unit, its apples to oranges.

    It's really a non-arguable situation. You are comparing apples to oranges here. It all depends on the size of the house, if there are vaulted ceilings, what the insulation is like in the home, if there is direct sunlight on the house for the majority of the day, where the AC unit is located...

    Okay here is how I will explain this: You set your thermostat at 71 degrees at all times. Your thermostat kicks the AC on when your thermostat hits 72 degrees to cool it back to 71 degrees. The AC runs for 7 minutes too cool it back to 71 degrees. Now.... You have your thermostat set...
