When does 2023 Conference Schedule come out?

Ohio U is fairly remote. Fly into Columbus and drive 1.25 hours to Athens, where you will constantly be reminded that it’s Joe Burrows’ hometown. You go from flat to Appalachia fairly quickly. Cincinnati’s Nippert only seats 38,000, but will cram 40k in if they have to. Nippert has its flaws...

Are the new 4 schools guaranteed entry into the Big 12?

The 4 newbies add something something the B12 needed - tv markets. Houston/Cincy-Dayton/Orlando/Salt Lake-Utah-Mormon provide new eyeball in new areas, along with good recruiting territories.

Are the new 4 schools guaranteed entry into the Big 12?

The addition of the four new members appears to have given the B12 stability enough to have the upper hand. Now that schools actually want in, funny there’s chatter about kicking schools out.

BYU, CINCY, UCF, UH Joining in Summer '23: Football Implications?

One of the biggest games on UC’s schedule is Arkansas. I’d like to attend that game but getting to that town is too much of a hassle. I guess I could fly into little rock then drive, but not in the mood for all of that. I appreciate locales with easy access. The new programs tend to provide...

Who is best for the Big 12?

I find it difficult to believe the B10 is going to leave USC and UCLA on an island. Gotta believe Stanford, Cal, Oregon and Washington are in the mix

BYU, CINCY, UCF, UH Joining in Summer '23: Football Implications?

I would say the level of excitement among the UC faithful is pretty high right now, given the trip to the Sugat Bowl - so fans are engaged. Nippert is about as on-campus as an on-campus stadium can be. It literally sits in the middle of a very dense urban campus, and the student union sits 50...

BYU, CINCY, UCF, UH Joining in Summer '23: Football Implications?

Kind of chuckled at this post. I think the new entry destinations are more interesting/fun than the existing B12 destinations, with the exception of maybe Austin. Cincinnati is hardly a tourist spot, but for a weekend there are plenty of places to eat, drink, and have a good time. - certainly...

All in good fun slogans for new Big 12 schools

I have a love/hate relationship with Houston. Been there for a wedding, a funeral, to visit friends. Had too much time to soak the city in. While I can appreciate the city’s vibrancy, I mostly think the place is a hot mess. I pondered living there then thought, “No.” Just no.

UCF was founded in 1963 as Florida Tech

I’ve noticed that these boards tend to describe UCF as a commuter school. The numbers suggest otherwise. The number of applicants to UCF is over 44,000, which I’m pretty sure dwarfs any other school in the B12. The location alone certainly makes it an attractive destination for those outside...

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

They had a chance to add a bunch of extra seats. Instead they opted for suites and about 1100 club seats

    Big 12 Expansion (new thread)

UC is urban, concentrated, and limited on space. Nippert is about as “on-campus” as an on-campus stadium can get. It sits smack dab in the middle of and directly next to academic buildings. Other than temporary fences erected on game day, there’s no barrier to entry. The student union sits...

Big XII to add schools within days?

Long term, one has to wonder what happens to the Vanderbilts, Wake Forests - and even TCUs of the world.

Big XII to add schools within days?

Well, the time slots will be better but they won’t be Ohio State time slots. I’m guessing that the new B12 will get crappier time slots without TX and OK. I personally have no interest in the college football blue bloods. Alabama, Ohio State…bore me. I won’t boost their ratings. The...

Big XII to add schools within days?

Having lived in reality, I won’t begin to address the glaring deficiencies with your position. Anyway, I love a good debate, but I’m here for fun, not to argue. Life is too short.

USF - talk about a school that screwed the pooch

Big XII to add schools within days?

lol, no. I suppose regional exposure can solidify fan opinions, but not sure how far that goes towards including another team from a small state. I’d guess that the B1G’s wish list would include ACC blue bloods. the only way i see that happening is if Clemson/FL State bolt to the SEC.

i’ve done a good job detailing why that’s the case.

Big XII to add schools within days?

You put a regional game on here, people here will watch it. Will they watch Ohio State more than UC? Yup. But they rarely play at the same time. O$U plays at 8pm on Saturday night on ABC. UC plays Friday night on ESPN2. There are a lot of people here and they watch football. I think a...

Big XII to add schools within days?

I honestly don’t know what the Iowa/ISU breakout is. I would suspect that it’s closer than O$U/UC. My point in posting was only to point out that UC is not a subset of Ohio State fandom, and that even though Ohio State clearly has a much bigger following there are two, separate circles on the...
