RECRUITING: 2025 guard @PhoenixGill_ is set to visit Ames Saturday. I caught up w/ him on why he rescheduled, and where Iowa State stands.

"It's really encouraging for me to see, knowing a school like this is recruiting me... I just love how they play."

Hmmmm Underwood or TJ. This is a Hawkeye type situation where the kid seems to be going to Illinois no matter what. The same way Iowa get's most of their recruits.

He's going to Illinois, but nice that we get mentioned and a visit.
That's fine if he does. Last thing I'm worried about with TJ is getting players. 2025 will be be reloading for Gilbert and Jones but depending on attrition we'll have Lipsey, Paveletzke, Momcilovic Pierce, Indrusitis, Hamilton and hopefully Batemon coming in.

Yeah, TJ has been getting great players already, and the more he establishes ISU as a contender, the more doors that will open (though obviously TJ has a player type and the grind of ISU basketball won't be for everyone).

With Gill, wasn't it the deal that it came down to us and Illinois, talk was that he was coming here, and then in the end he went with the Illini? We just missed out on some incredible kids back in those days. I'm still sore about the Glen Rice thing.

Lowell Hamilton, Willie Burton. Johnny nearly had an all Big Ten crew to play with Grayer.
