Iowa State received two AP Poll votes in the latest release of the top 25 rankings:

Maybe a bit too premature. I would have expected it if we win against Iowa, but otherwise there are still a lot of unknowns. While our win against UNI was bigger than the score indicated, we still struggled a lot on offense and had some troubles stopping the run game. I realize most people that vote only watch the teams in the top 5-10 so fair that they wouldn't have seen some of the underlying currents still needing to be ironed out.

100% agree... honestly if I were voting I'd probably wait till a team was 4-0 before voting them for them if they were unranked at the start of the season. Just because I wouldn't know how good they were or how good their opponents were until they started playing conference games...

of course, I wouldn't even have a top 25 until October 1 if it were up to me, so there's that too LOL

Not me I would have ranked us #1 and the other Iowa team last...........................................................................No matter what the records were.

Wouldn't be any worse than some of the AP voters we have currently. I'd reckon most don't watch the games at all.

It's impossible for them to. They may watch highlights of the top 10 teams, and maybe watch what ever game their covering in addition to the prime time game. But otherwise, they're just looking at the scores.

Lol that's crazy. Maybe move into receiving votes or into the 20s if you beat Iowa and OSU and start 4-0
It's mostly a guess after one game. It's not completely absurd that one voter might have us as one of his top 25. The rest didn't. Which is probably how it should be.

Voting before week four or so is premature. Early season polls are silly

Effectively ranked 40th, which I don't think is a stretch. I remember CW saying power ratings had ISU as a top 30 team last year despite their record. We had one bad year. We should still be considered a solid football program.

I guess I'd have to walk in their shoes to determine whether I'd be able to or not. Not saying I would be able to watch every game but there are some voters who watch little to no highlights or games nor do they look at stat lines or analytics.
