Today, a little before 1PM, I heard jets or a jet flying low. Sounded like they landed at Des Moines, quite loudly. I was unable to get outside to see it/them. Anyone see them?

That was me, I'd just dropped off Penny Benjamin after a fun little outing and was feeling pretty charged up.
A bit off topic, but there were a couple of Chinooks that flew over, I assume heading to Camp Dodge, yesterday about 730p. Those thing were LOUD.
Same. I'm a little further away than you as I can't hear the gunfire. But i like seeing the choppers flying over occasionally
And the air guard wing out at the DSM airport. I work in Johnston and there are chinooks and black hawks flying in and out all the time.
My guess is that it was just a two ship flying cross country. The air guard has a transient team that recovers, refuels, and launches cross countries all the time.
A lot of us do! I saw the writing on the wall back in 2011 that the Iowa ANG was going to lose it's current airframe so I got out. Best decision I ever made.
I’m in the flight path of the emergency helicopters, so I hear them frequently. It’s rare they are low enough to shake the windows on the house.
Also rare are Chinooks coming from the east, I think headed to Fort Dodge.
