Jay Jordan on the changes to the staff and team

For anyone that has seen this video on IG; please list what positions who is at.

TIA!
I don’t often visit IG, but I went to look for this video. Did not see anything from Cyclone football this week aside from the Coach Poteat video.

Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place.

Bruns is a good Cyclone, but he's kinda full of it. He falls for hype as much as the typical fan
Burns was one of the very few calling out the OL for their lack of playing together as a unit. Not so much that they were terrible individually, but that they had blocking breakdowns on a lot of plays simply because they were not good as a unit, which is a coaching issue. Not saying the new guy will work miracles, but after the last few years of embarrassing OL play, a change had to be made.

Bruns was incredibly frustrated last year with something, darn I can't remember what it was, that happened with the o-line early on and it was something that should have been fixable. But then he had to keep bringing it up as the season progressed because it kept happening. I think it was our guys going to the second level way to quick instead of taking care of the their initial assignments, which left our QB and running backs open targets for defensive linemen roaming free in our backfield.

His podcasts were outstanding. Hope they're back next year. I think the quote was "it's really easy to play defense when you're unblocked"

Criticizing the team and falling for preseason hype can both happen. I have nothing against Bruns. I like him, but if you listened to him when he was on the radio team, he was always sunshine pumping in the preseason. Goes with the job I suppose. I'm not saying he was being disingenuous, just that he's susceptible to the same biases as the rest of us because he loves ISU. So take his words with a grain of salt.

What's the offseason for if we can't get excited about new coaches and a couple new players that will turn out to be completely average? :)

He pointed out that we were terrible in executing combination blocks. It was a pretty basic fundamental we were lacking. That is a key for teams to get push at the point of attack.

He is a proud Cyclone, but he is also one of our limited resources that is both knowledgeable and connected with the program that can evaluate our OL. You can tell he is always well prepared when he shares his observations.
