At least on paper, the 2023 Big 12 post season MBB tournament could be *the* most competitive conference tournament in the history of conference tournaments:

Other than Cyclone Nation, no one could be happier to see Iowa State snap out of their February slump by dominating #7 Baylor on the road in the regular season finally than the post season tournament hosts in Kansas City. The field already includes 5 ranked teams, including both Kansas teams. And now, to set the stage, hope for the league's most insane fan has been re-kindled.

It's been 4 years since ISU's last league tournament title for MBB. Could it happen again in 2023? If so, who will be the oppoents in addition to Baylor?

im a realist. It’s hard to beat a team 3 times. Especially when that team is coached by Scott drew and you just beat that team 4 days prior. Hard for me to see

Do hope I’m wrong

It's not like it the road hasn't been traveled before. "Last Place My Ass"
Wish we knew who was holding that sign. I think we are only ones to take that picture.

Actual research shows that just isn't true. Someone linked in another thread.

We’ve played very well against Baylor 2 times. Honestly both times might have been our best performance of season. We match up well with them. We have confidence playing them.

I love the matchup. A win means another top 25 win. A loss means nothing.

I wish ISU could have gotten another shot at Oklahoma State. Absolutely nuts we got swept by them.
Look at the teams playing on Wed. ISU is 2-6 against the worst teams in the conference. That is just nuts. OSU, OK, WVU and TTU are just not that great. The Clones are so inconsistent at shooting the ball. Need good Gabe and Holmes for the rest of the year. Without those 2 scoring ISU has no chance. Grill was the only other guy that you could count on to get to double digits.

I comprehend your sentiment. It was stressful to see our Cyclones lose at home to teams at the bottom of the conference standings. But, there were simply no days off in the Big 12 during the 2023 season. The 7th and 8th place teams, WVU and Okie St, are locks for the NCAA tournament. And, believe it or not, the 9th and 10th place teams, TxT and OU remain projected for the NIT among the likes of Michigan, Wisconsin, Villanova, and Cincinnati.

Here is the latest from DRatings.com:

Also, do not forget that 10th place OU handed Alabama, the currently projected overall #1 seed , its most devastating loss of the season a mere 5 weeks ago. They could fall off the NIT bubble, but not because they would not belong there:

That OU loss in Hilton just seemed like one of those days where guys were shooting out of their minds no matter what you do, and everytime ISU knocked the ball away it ended up in the hands of a guy wide open from 3. I'm sure that is what happened to Alabama in that game. Still a dangerous team to play, because they are capable of going off on any night.

I figured this out days ago. We own the top 10. Therefore, we can count on another win against Baylor on Thursday and another against Kansas on Friday.
The rest depends on Texas doing their part, getting their wins and getting in our way. Then we take them down for the championship, move up to a 3 seed, and convince ourselves and the team that our future 14 seed opponent would have been a top 10 team if they'd gotten the respect they deserve. Do the same in round 2, and roll on to One Cyclone moment.

I'll allow it.
