Just saw this images that show the original design of what became Hilton Coliseum (and Fisher Threater, too).

Quite a bit different. Construction drawings were completed. Bids were taken but were too high. So the structure was resigned to what we have today. In my opinion, that was a blessing!

That's a really ****** up-looking roof, architecturally. How would there not be water issues?

At least all the roof leaks would be in one area...

Wonder if there are any drawings of what the inside would look like

Also, Assembly hall is cool to see once but it's just a horrible layout.

Right smack dab in the middle of the worst era in American design. We lucked out on Hilton. Towers… are/were definitely of their time.

Fascinating. Is the only entrance on the west side?

The apparent lack of awareness of parking and pedestrian paths is amazing!

At least with Hilton, they got it fixed.

"We need a design that maximizes the amount of snow that a roof can hold before it collapses majestically."

Too little attention has been given to the fact that the Center Drive berm contributed to the flooding of Hilton in 2010 because it created a bowl that held water. I remember water just shooting out of the pedestrian walkway south of Hilton because of the pressure that had built up around Hilton.
