Somebody is walking by and spitting on my dog

I have a Rott/Lab mix dog who’s about 10 months old. Never could get her to go poop on a leash, so I put her out on a tie-down in the fenced front yard every morning and then again around dinner time. It gives her a chance to do some running around and do her business with some privacy.

About a half dozen times in the last month, when I’ve gone out to bring her back in, I’ve noticed spit or a loogie on her, usually on her face. Tonight it was on her back.

After the second time, my fiancée called the local police department and they said they wouldn’t do anything about it even if we had it on video. I put up a camera anyway, but it goes off for every little movement and the batteries died pretty quickly. I didn’t bother to replace them given what the cops said, but after tonight I’m just fed up. The spit had brown in it like the person was eating chocolate or something.

I’m going to replace the batteries and watch when she’s out from now on, but how should I handle it if I catch someone in the act? What would you do?

Ooooh, the rage that would build in me. I don't know what I'd do, but spitting on someone/something is just the trashiest, most low class thing I can witness a person doing.

I'm actually curious to see if others have an irrationally high disgust for this. Keep us posted.

No but I chew, that being said I don't go around spitting on dogs.

Wait for them next time if you can and then go spit in their face.

If law enforcement doesn’t want to deal with it take it into your own hands.

Put the dog out there, hide around the corner and when the person comes and spits on the dog come out from around the corner and beat there ass.

If you need help I'd gladly help.

Whole different scenario there. I don't have an issue with that at all. It's when it's a deliberate act of disrespect. Insults, middle fingers? Whatever. Spit on a person to insult them? They deserve a blast in the piehole.

Fair enough, we can agree on that.
