That and 5 bucks will get you a cup of coffee, but it's nice to be recognized.

Pretty much what I thought the vote would be, but dang, that was a close pick by that one point.

Will be interesting to see how Baylor does. Sort of a "rebuild" they aren't used to but with their transfers and recruits they will be near the top again. First true post-Mulkey roster for new coach.

Not sold on Sooners. Sooners will score a bunch but will they defend. Radical hot take, think it would have been better for their new era if Robinson won't have grabbed her COVID bonus year.

Beyond this year, with the class we have coming in, we could be a top team with Baylor in the new Big 12. Texas and OU leaving isn't ideal for league strength.

Here's an example of how the voting MIGHT have gone. The only two that are certain are ISU (had to be 4 1sts, 4 2nds, and a 3rd) and TCU (1 8th and 8 9ths).

Coaches don't vote for their own team, so they rank the other 9 teams 1-9.

TEAM1st2nd3rd4th5th6th7th8th9th
1. Iowa State (4), 75 Points441
2. Texas (4), 74432
3. Oklahoma (1), 651242
4. Baylor (1), 621134
5. Kansas, 4945
6. Kansas State, 374311
7. Texas Tech, 291323
8. West Virginia, 263321
9. Oklahoma State, 231431
10. TCU, 1018

Well 80% of a cup of Coffee by my quick count...

Since 2010's pick of Baylor to win '10-'11 there are only two misses of the preseason pick not following through to win the regular season:

2013-'14: OU pick-Baylor win.
2014-'15: Texas pick-Baylor win.

Ten full seasons results listed above. In 2019-'20 the season was truncated, effectively voided, and no winner could be determined.

I post the "Don't Look Back" Boston classic directly to make the statement not to look at the past results.

On edit I checked my numbers.

Crazy to think Baylor had 4 times as many fourth place votes as first place votes. Texas and their new coach are the team I now dislike the most in the league.

Until we can physically match up with the likes of Baylor and Texas I'll believe it when I see it. They both dominated us last year.
Thats what i was gonna ask. How do BU and UT look for this year? Are they down, or new coaches?

Would love for them to win the conf but they always get wrestled to death in the big games and tourney, when suddenly fouls arent a thing.

As I watched Ashley, Lexi, Emily and Ni in the FIFA 3x3 tournaments, which are a slugfest, I realized this is excellent preparation for playing thug teams like Texas, Baylor, LSU and MSU. I think we’re ready to deal with bullies this season - we also have “fouls to give” in the post and hope we learn the art of “hard fouls” when appropriate!
