The news of Remsburg being out is not what I wanted to hear 14 days before kickoff.... They are listing it as "day to day" but that was what we heard about Downing in 2020 and Remsburg last season..

I feel good about the interior starters:

LG - Hufford - experience, 4th year, 314 lbs.
C - Downing - experience, 5th year, and the best player on the line
RG - Simmons - experience, 4th year, 307 lbs.

I feel ok about Tyler Miller at LT. He held up in the bowl game against a good Clemson line

Treiber is a 4th year guy with two games of experience (2020 season). Our line has been bad and he couldn't get on the field? Maybe I'm being too harsh here...

If Remsburg misses significant time. We are likely relying on freshman or a JUCO who wasn't here for spring ball.....

The history of ISU injuries and the term "day to day" may as well mean out for the season. We were pretty much playing with 5 guards last year so that made it hard. Some people think that Remsburg is our best OL. If we were going to have an OL injury, I would prefer a guard over a tackle as we seem to have more of those. Our OL has underachieved the entire Campbell era. I keep hearing every year we are going to have a good line, and every year I am underwhelmed.

Huge concern. I felt like Remsburg was the one proven tackle... Miller was fine as the #2. Similar feeling on Treiber. One hope there is that the staff is very slow to play guys (seems like still should have gotten a shot at some point last year)...

My main issue is that we shouldn't have been playing guards at tackle in year 6. Injuries happen. You need depth at your most important positions. Hope in year 7 we have some guys step up...

And you shouldn't have to play 3 star freshman in your two deep. The difference in a 2nd year freshman and third year sophomore is often quite substantial

I will be concerned about our O line until I see them actually delivering the goods on the field. O line and special teams play have been the low spots of the CMC era and I won't buy any hype on either until my eyes can see it. The injury adds fuel to my fire, but I was a skeptic already.

Hoping one or both of the transfers can step up. Beat out someone at G and take one of the OT spots...

Did they participate in spring ball?

As someone who doesn't think the offensive line was the dumpster fire last year that many seem to think, I have less concern. Do I like the news? Heck no. Do I think the OL needs to improve? yes.

But I don't think they were anywhere near as bad - playing with 4 guards and a center - as people like to think

OL never any good under CMC? Led the Big 12 in passing last year. Last two feature backs left early after stellar careers and are NFL starters. Last QB amassed record yards, wins and TD's while avoiding injury. Evidently the OL had nothing to do with any of that.

It'd just be nice to see them not get punked by UNI one of these years.

What concerned me most in the past is when we needed a yard or 2 and we would struggle to pick it up or barely make it, even against defenses that are less than stellar.

Breece Hall isn't an NFL starter.

Go watch DM and see how many times he had to make something out of nothing.

Enter Jim Bonifas. 6’5 298 and looks athletic. Good HS basketball player. Hoping he gets some run at tackle and gets it done. Then I hope he and Miller are bookends for the next 3 years and put our OT woes to bed for awhile.
From what Myers said yesterday, Bonifas is inside.

Tyler Maro is the future star at tackle.
